09 Tacoma Double Cab Stereo interference

I am currently having the same problem with my JBL sub. Dealer today said that they could not do anything about the problem. Will be contacting Toyota Headquarters ... will follow up.

 

Does anyone know if the interference issue has been resolved? Is the system wothe the extra$'s. I plan on buying a Tacom next month w/the JBL. I want to make sure the issue is resolved before i spend the extra $'s.

 

Im looking into buying a dbl cab long bed taco here in canada, what size sub is int it? can you upgrade the sub and amp?

 

I bought my 09 tacoma double cab 3 days ago and have the same speaker/sub issue. I went to the dealer today and spoke with the service manager who was unaware of the issue but stated to me that he cleary hears what I am talking about when i played him some music... He stated to me that he would check into possibly getting Toyota to approve an aftermarket amp for either my rear speakers or sub. The installed amp is not powerful enough to drive them both..... updates to come when I have them! **fingers crossed**

 

So during the time I had this issue with the JBL stereo, I drapped an e-mail to the "Harmon international" (the parent compnay of JBL) describing this issue with the JBL stereo system. They were shocked that system had this defect. A couple of calls later, I manged to get JBL and the FTS from toyota to talk to each other to look into this issue.

JBL immediately setup a test bench of this stereo system and within a week, Overnighted an updated amp to my toyoata Dealership. Last Thursday I had the new JBL amp installed and afterMarket Pioneer amp removed.

The stereo now sounds amazing. No more crackling sound from the rear chnannels and the stereo sounds as the way I expected a JBL system to sound. PERFECT

I really have to applaud JBL for taking the extra initiative in quickly resolving this issue for me.

 

Did they mention anything about a TSB? fingers crossed?

I've been turned away 2 times from the dealership for the same problem and don't have the time for this sh!t. The last visit they tried the cds i gave them in another JBL equipped 09 tacoma and had the same sound problems. They concluded it was my cds... absolute BS! I argued for an hour about the possibility that the other taco may have the same defect and it wasnt the cds! They keep giving me free oil changes but as for the root problem... still unresolved!

 

Do you have any phone numbers that you can pass along to help me get this issue resolved? I am at a stand still with my dealer! =(

So today Toyota is making a decision on what's to be done about my stereo! I took this thread and the JBL-Toyota partnership info to the service manager at my dealership yesterday. They were understanding and responsive to my concerns this time around. I should hear back about the issue sometime today and i'll post up what happens.

Great job taking initiative with this issue. It's odd that no one from Toyota looked into it. It sounds like it was relatively easy to make contact.

 

Those of you that had issues with radio interference & the dealer didn't want to fix the problem did anyone ever call Toyota? if so what did they say? I'm about to buy my first Tacoma w/JBl & wanted to know how Toyota handled the issue if anyone called them?

 

Just recieved a call from the service manager and they've ordered me a new amp. Apparently JBL now knows of the issue and has created a replacement amp which looks exactly the same except the new one has a blue dot on it. Get to your dealer, show them this thread, and they should put the order in no problem!

 

Is this a more powerful amp, or just has a better crossover or what? Anyone have a guess? I'm curious because I don't have the problem all that often and I know it will be a hassle with the dealership because they won't be able to "reproduce the problem". But if it sounds considerably better then I'll take a shot at it.

 

Just got the new amp in today and it sounds great. I even borrowed some rap cds from work and I cant even see out the damn side or rear mirrors because they are vibrating so bad from the bass. Not even the slightest wind blowing through a mic sound at all. Wooo Hooo

 

Sweet! Can't wait for my new amp to arrive!!!

 

It can even make rap sound good and is legal?...

 

Can you guys post up the model # of the new amp you're getting. Just wanted to compare. Havent got mine yet but ill post it up too
