Hey all. Looking for some opinions. Getting my new to me Magnetic Grey Tacoma detailed and paint corrected at the end of the month and my buddy doing it wants to know if I want him to debadge it. He says that’s the time to do it if I wanted it done.

What do you guys think about the debadge look?

I like it and did my truck. Nobody can tell you want you like but you. You could always Plastidip them black to tone them down.

I think I would like it done. I feel like the badges trap the most dirt too and are hard to clean. A debadge would make it easier to wash and wax.

If you want. If not, don’t.

Depending on UV damage to your paint you may have some ghosting, how visible is up in the air, but on a 10 year old truck something to consider as a possible issue.

Definitely debadge. IMHO the side badges look cheap and I thought there was too much crap stuck to the back. "TACOMA TOYOTA SR5 4X4" was starting to look like a cluttered spec sheet.

I left my TRD-OFFROAD decals on the bed sides though just for a little color contrast on my black on black on black truck.

Yes. I de-badged some of the badges. I think the Tacoma on the doors, 4x4 and v6 on the tailgate looks cheap.

I left the TRD OR on the side of the bed. I did add the Tacoma decal in the tail gate though.

Edit didn’t realize this was a gen 2 thread oops.

    It is up to you.
    I wouldn’t care either way.
If anything the TRD stickers is what I’d pull.
And only because after 13 years outside, the edges are getting chipped and dirty.

That's the only thing that worries me. If the truck was a lot newer I wouldn't think twice. But if I pull those off and there is ghosting I'll be a little upset with myself.

That looks really sharp! You're lucky though, won't get much or any ghosting on the white.

I pulled the badges off my tailgate because they were all broken, according to it I had an "ACOM R5 PreRunner".

However the previous owner had the truck re-painted and they didn't remove the badges, just taped and sprayed.

So I have a physial layer difference, that looks like the new Tacoma's embossed tailgate (just smaller).

For that reason I did not remove the side badges and elected to plasti-dip them black instead. They blend in with my black truck well.

Edit: I do plan on re-painting it in the future and it will be de-badged fully then. I like that look better, I've always removed badges off all my vehicles.

I took everything off my tailgate except the "V6". And then I plastidipped that and the side "Tacoma" badges.

I’m debating removing the “Tacoma” on the doors myself.
I removed everything off of the tailgate though because it looked like shit. I like the clean look. I’d keep the TRD OR stickers on mine though.

You can run a piece of string (550 cord guts) behind the badge like you're flossing your teeth and the badge will come off. Then pick off the glue with your fingers.
