Ran FR 163 today. You were right it was fun. First time I've had to get out and take a look before tackling an obstacle. Some pretty deep erosion on the trail meant I got to use 4 LO and rear locker for the first time. Also had chance to try crawl control. Very noisy! Had a great couple of hours thank you for the recommendation!!

Awesome dude. Glad you had a good time. I'll be up there in October and it's on my list.

It’s not bad there is one wash out that would be rough to fall off into but it can be gone around. I was looking at the forest service website and apparently 163 is closed. Didn’t even know it till after the trip.

I was on Charlies Creek last weekend. Drove all the way through from Hightower through the river crossing near Persimmon Road. This road is being loved to death. Most of the time you should be able to get through just using 4x4 capability but lately the bigger 4x4 rigs have chewed up sections making it more difficult. My truck is a bone stock 4x4 Limited Crew Cab Short Bed. I was in 4x2 most of the way, 4x4 High in places I thought I might need it and 4x4 Low in two places. I made it through without any problem. Just be patient, smart and slow and you will make it through with a regular 4x4 I think. I saw a Subaru Forester about half way through and they reported having no issues getting through from the River end.

Was up on Charlie's creek yesterday and the road isn't bad never needed to put it in 4x4. But I swear people are trashing it. Its disgusting all the litter up there.
