Being someone who just pulled his skids, I would say don't put too much work into making them look pretty. I pounded mine back into shape and just rattle canned some bedliner onto them.

had the paint laying around and didnt want bare metal hanging underneath so thats the only treatment they will get until the next trip.

bedliner was another idea but would have had to buy those supplies.

Potts mountain is a great one, but not sure how “overlandy” everyone is. You’ll hit your armor and winch a couple of times but it’s the best public trail in VA, at least that I’m aware of.

Yep, you’ll want to hit Potts then. It’s a point to point trail and I recommend starting at this end. You can camp halfway through the trail in the open field, or there’s a first come first serve State owned campground nearby for free.

Big levels I believe is also called bald mountain which is fun, pretty easy though. I did most of it stock all terrain tires in the snow. It’s also super narrow. There are a few obstacles that I didn’t do and I also turned around before the top so idk if it gets harder

I had one ready this morning with my screen name, but it rained. And was unprepared, no crayons.

Hmmmm. May have found a used topper in PA. I've been looking for a while. Had decided I was going to price a new ARE DCU, but then this one came up. Right color, and I hope the price is right, too. It's at a dealer and I'm hoping they'll take my BakFlip G2 in trade!

    ^^ What Tac said...

Big levels / Bald mountain will be tight in a lot but of places due to brush. Expect some pin striping. Not a bad little run either. If it has recently rained, the sandy mud holes will be full. They are all up the top side towards the parkway a couple miles in.

possible to have hunters up there this time of year as well.
