Your tune doesn't get wiped, but depending on how long your battery is pulled your long term fuel trims may reset. This can sometimes lead to a rough or high idle for a couple minutes until it adapts. Usually the first start up after disconnecting the battery is rough, too. It'll start and then die a couple seconds later, then be fine on the next start. At least that's my experience on my '08.

Any Cali folks gone to get SMOG lately with a tune installed? I've heard in '20 they started checking CVN's which is a key generated from the calibration of the ECU. Supposedly there is a library of these they can check for matches but not sure if they have every possible combo.

I'd rather not get flagged first time so I was thinking of reinstalling the stock tune, clearing drivability test then going to get checked just in case.

I doubt it, AFAIK they just make sure that via OBD2 everything looks good for emissions stuffs.

That sounds an awful lot like the Calibration ID number.

Some tuners change these to protect their tunes. If this is in fact what they're looking at, you'll be fine using anything from HPTuners or myself.

I'm ALWAYS down to check your new tranny stuff. If you ever want or need a tester on your latest tune iterations, tag me, and I'll jump into here to see what's going down.

That hang could definitely go away. Lol.

Reason # 133 why you rock even more. :)

What trans tune are you currently on? V14 has been made public, I can throw it in your tune for ya.

Over the last few weeks I got some actual drive time in (1000ish mile round trip up to tahoe n back) and never once had it hang like it did in v13. Obviously the trans AI did its thing when encountering hills n whatnot like it would always do, but not the weird hang in 4th (and sometimes 3rd) after quicker acceleration then super light load/throttle input. Also with the slightly revised 5 to 4 downshift and subsequent 5th TCC release I feel like the truck is able to move along a little easier when encountering a rolling hill without downshifting by allowing just a bit more time in the 5th unlocked state than before.

I got about 320 miles on JustDSM's updated tune and nd4spdbh's V14 trans tune.

Lots to like and I definitely can feel the improvements. Much more crisp part-throttle acceleration, smooth, shifts that seem more intuitive than the last couple of versions (but still hanging in 4th-5th for me occasionally, but definitely not as often), and better fuel economy. I had a 600lb motorcycle in the bed for a half of the 320 and a sleeper sofa the other 1/4 of it and got better fuel economy on that tank than I was on the old tune running an unloaded truck. I'm stoked! Thanks once again, fellas.

Currently on V13 STS version. If there is space to clean it up I am definitely open to that. I have to take a log for @JustDSM still and get my current tune cleaned up some. Once I have that done I will get a hold of you so you can upload that version onto there for me. :D

Glad to hear it! Yeah v14 will still hold 4th longer in certain situations vs a stock trans tune simply with how shift points have been raised. If you want to upshift if you feel like it shouldnt be holding, D to 4 back to D will force the upshift. Give it a try and let me know if its able to hold 5th locked in that situation, im betting it will have a hard time holding that, unfortunately im shooting blind with respect to how trans AI interacts with the tuneable shift points! I wish i knew!

    Absolutely send it on over.

is the trans tune a separate load? I have a tune installed now but I thought it was all in one file

It is, but you have to modify those parameters, so Justin does one and @nd4spdbh take that same tune file and uploads his sauce into it to make it behave the way desired, so that basically makes it two seperate tunes despite being on the same file because it has to be modified twice.

If you get a tune from me, I include the trans portions of nd4’s work into the tune, to eliminate the back and forth.

    Just FYI.
