My apologies I’m sure this questions been asked but didn’t want to sort through the pages. What tunes are included in the add on package? I have no tuning experience. Also asked in the NorCal forum to no avail, but does anyone know of a shop or individual that can do the tune if I opt not to do the add on package? Thanks in advance.

Thank you for your reply. Yes, I did that too. Although it says "If you have throttle limitations at lower RPM in higher gears you must modify your airload tables. My issue is only in 1st Gear off idle to 6,000 rpm.

I havent touched these maps yet since I was trying to figure out the TC shenanigans but I will start looking in to it. I did some tests a couple of weeks ago and I had throttle limitations at every gear. If you use gear lock you can see it for yourself. I gave up on trying to get rid of them but Matt released an example file on how to get full throttle at even low RPM so I'm going to add gear lock and TC locking to his file and test it out.

Here were my results when I was first testing:
-2nd gear limits to 40% and then jumps to 80% at 2500 RPM.
    -4th gear does the same.
-5th gear limits the same but limits to 80% once at 2300 RPM.
-6th gear never got above 27% but I was only able to get to about 1700 RPM (70ish MPH) due to where I was testing.

EDIT: If anyone is "feeling" like its better it would be nice to have confirmation with some kind of logging. Butt dynos are an imperfect machine.

    thanks for all this.

i completed the edit from your post here: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/vf-tuner-for-the-3-5l-tacoma.662948/page-283#post-24276576. i haven't flashed it yet.

two questions if you don't mind.
    1) the new info quoted above is a refinement of your original edit i linked above? and that is what, a 'safer' version all around, or specific to running in higher temps?
    2) since i'm in N.Texas with hot summers, what would you do here? i'm in a 2017 MT.

    thanks again.

EDIT: i changed the values to your second iteration quoted above after noticing they were quite a bit different in some fields. i'll flash it, but still interested in your input and any further refinements you do. next step for me is to get a new DMM. my 2 yr old got her hands on my old one and has been using it as a phone and throwing it around like a toy.

Yeah 4th gear lockup for me isn’t really that noticeable. I tuned it out for a version and I’m going to see how that runs. Tuned out all lock up and partial. Then I will try a version where partial lockup is tuned out for all gears and see how that works. Just going by trial and error to see what I like.

So after changing TC lock for 1-4 to no lock and no partial lock I really like the way it drives. So smooth driving around city streets. I will monitor trans temps to make sure there’s nothing going on there. So far so good!

I updated the locking 3rd gear S2 and locking 4th gear 2 and S2. After my first initial drive I decided to go out and log with my OBD Fusion. I noticed the TC is still locking in 4th gear with those 2 tables changed. So I’m thinking there’s more tables to it. Here’s a screenshot of when the TC locked in 4th.

Not sure how accurate this app is but i figured it probably better than nothing.

Are you able to post a picture of your 4th gear TC tables?

EDIT: And is it consistent? I've experienced that it occasionally takes a shift cycle or two before it settles in to the new maps.

it locked in 4th every time it was in 4th the second time I drove. A drive of a total 20-30 mins. Here at the tables, sorry if they’re hard to read. Had to take a pic on my phone.
