Luckily they consistently deliver between 2p-4p so I should be able to get it in tonight.

Interesting, I always thought HD's Vet policy was more favorable to Lowes and was the first amongst the box stores to offer permanent (daily, vice holiday discounts) savings for veterans.

This may have changed but last I checked Home Deopt doesn't have a storewide veterans discount policy. It's store specific. Lowe's on the other hand is company wide.

My wife's active duty and Home Depot offers mil discount to dependents which is why I'm still able to use my discount.

At one point that's how it was. Or something similar to that. Went into HD one time and was informed that the corporate policy had changed and vets were no longer eligible. And somewhere in there had gone to Lowe's and their entire system had changed. Put me in some system via phone number and told me I could enter it like a Pro card (or whatever Lowe's calls it). Worked great since then.

Edit: I honestly don't use it very much unless it's a big purchase. My wife is the one that reminds me when she's with me. Same thing at Auto Zone.

Yeah I thought that was one of the key differences. Lowe's would allow you to register online to simplify the process, whereas HD required an ID at checkout. Also limiting the scope of discounts a little more than Lowe's program.

Did it revert back to the old one where discounts were available on holidays only?

Not that I'm aware of. Last few times I've been there, I've gotten it.

My dad has no trouble using his vet discount at Lowes either. Just enters his number like you said.
