Me and tarantula.jpg My 08 Tacoma Base (4 cylinder standard shift, 38,000 miles) suddenly my cruise control quit working and my airbag light came on. I hear that it could be the clock spring. My horn still works though. I can do the work, thought maybe it was just the CC switch. Any advice? Can the clock spring be repaired? Maybe dirty contacts??? Thanks all in advance.

Pull the diagnostic trouble codes. Armed with information you can make a better decision. Clockspring would be high on the list.

Small chance but worth a shot to call your local dealer to have them lookup your VIN to see if your truck was included in the clockspring recall many yrs ago. I believe it was for certain tacomas from 2005-2008. Worth a shot even if yours was not included so they can at least sell at a discount as a goodwill gesture especially if they know of your profession.
Hell, wear that same outfit in the pic and it's guaranteed to be repaired free of charge. Welcome to TW.

I welcome the OP to Tacoma World. I just really could t help myself here. Nothing wrong with an introduction. I’m a newbie here too.

But back to not being able to help myself. I read the post as: “ here here, I’m a cop and you damn kids are gonna obey me. Now give me what I want.” Chances are, that wasn’t his intention, but I know I’m not the only one who thought it.

honestly, I thought more people would find it humorous. No harm intended. Carry on.

Also, I was just hoping someone would say, “no shit, Sherlock” and then I could say, “keep digging, Watson.” I’m done now.

One of the posters mentioned the recall on the clock spring. That's a good idea. Seems like in the past mine was replaced on that recall but I can't remember if it was the Sienna or the Tacoma. My Tacoma is an '06.

Check for codes. If none, get out the voltmeter and start checking related fuses & relays. FWIW, my '08 is on it's third clock spring. One replaced by the previous owner in '15, one by me in '19. The horn didn't work in my case. Enter your vin in the Toyota owners website. It'll give all previous services, recalls & repairs since new, dealer preformed.
Welcome to TW Capt'n, great source for Taco info.
