My transfer case shifter is a lot hotter than my transmission shifter. I thought it was just mine that did this.

I remember after getting my clutch replaced a few years back the metal shifter rod would get so hot you couldn't touch it with your bare skin. Eventually it stopped doing that though.

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!
Your t-case shifter goes directly into your t-case. You're trans shifter is on the outside of your transmission.

Edit... I'm always thinking auto trans.

K&N CAI, 4.10 gears, rock sliders, Magnaflow exhaust, 33" Goodyear Wranglers w/ aftermarket wheels, LCE long tube headers
I finally fixed my exhaust leak from my header install!

When I purchased the LCE long tubes, I knew they wouldn't bolt on as the sales rep stated. The previous owner had installed a magnaflow exhaust which I guess deletes the flange right before the cat that the header is supposed to bolt on to. So I went to pick n pull and picked up a 4runner flange that looked correct and welded it on right before the cat. I'm not sure if the issue was with the flange or my terrible welds, but it has been leaking ever since. Well 2 days ago, I cut the flange off and welded it on straight(er). I also put some extreme temp jb weld between the 2 flanges just in case they still didn't fit quite right.
This morning I took it for a test drive and what a difference! It's idling much smoother and finally has that added power I was looking for. One thing that I don't understand is this: it also seems to be shifting better. Up until this morning, my shifter has always felt kind of sticky (especially when upshifting into 3rd and shifting into 1st from a stop). I've already changed the gear oil (redline) and grommet so I knew those were not the culprit. After fixing the exhaust, I feel less resistance in the clutch pedal and the shifting seems to be smoother. Does anyone have an explanation for this? I'm not familiar with the inter-workings of a clutch, but could the rough running engine have been affecting the hydraulics of the clutch? Idk, maybe I'm just imagining things...

Anyway here's a couple pics of my masterpiece:

Thanks! Its making the front sag a little and creating a some rubbing with the 265/75/16's so I guess I have to pull those Kings out of the garage sooner than later.

Yeah I bet, that’s a bit more weight for some stock coilovers.

They actually are aftermarket ones that previous owner had.

I can't tell what they are but they are indeed very soft. Didn't handle the front end weight in turns before the bumper, yet alone with the steelie.

Battery is in. Very snug fit.
Turns out with some minor adjusting :)smash:) you can put a Northstar 34/78 into a tray designed for an Optima 34/78 and still have the hood lock closed.

Although, no more dropping the hood the last 3 inches for me - just to be safe!

Wrapped some Reflectix around the outside and is so far keeping the battery noticeably cooler

Does anyone know what the thread size is of the power steering air valve is on a 3rz 2.7L?

    (this thing)
    upload_2020-10-5_13-37-30.jpg

The doorman one I had on there broke the top off, so i'm just going to plug it with a bolt until I can get the replacement one in that I ordered online.

Haven't been able to find what the thread pitch and size is anywhere online.

    I think M14?

I’m building a cable tray that sits under the driver’s seat. I’m mounting a Federal Signal Legend lightbar and SS2000SM controller and this is where all the brains and modules live. Was hoping to have extra room for a HAM box for a remote control head, but will probably have to put it elsewhere.

Nah man zipties and wire labels are far more than most people would do.

And those are good labels. Not these stupid things.

It was really fun labeling all of them. I’m running a 20 year old light and siren controller - but a brand new lightbar which uses a serial interface system. That’s what the black module on the left is for. Older lightbars had a ton of wires running to them for each function, but the newer ones only use power and a CAT5 cable to communicate with the onboard controller.

Have to disable all of the siren functions, I have two extra relays to play with. I’m probably going to hook it up to my spot lights and maybe some bed lights.

They used to control the gun lock and lower flashers, which I obviously don’t need.
