Just curious, because you make an interesting failsafe point. Would the engine still breath with the SC in place and not spinning?

I would assume so. Doing some quick googling says that it will still work, but performance will be worse than stock.

Unless the SC blades made a complete seal and the engine couldn't draw air thru the non-rotating (or non-driven blades) it would still run.

Or, it depends how much flow the WG allows. Guaranteed a bit more than idle.

Thanks for your insight! I haven’t heard from any automatic owners until now.

what has really been wowing me lately now that I’m back to daily driving instead of romping the throttle is how much less input it takes to go way too fast lol. There is a moderate amount more power between 1800 and 2800 and a massive increase from 3k up

And for the above comments, you would be able to limp home with the belt off, but she would be rich and slow.

also if any thing catastrophically failed in the SC it would grenade the engine. Metal bits and pistons aren’t good pals.

Intercoolers are technically heat exchangers between two compressors, like you'd find in compound turbo or supercharger setups (the name was given for airplane engines that used turbo/superchargers for elevation normalizing in WW2). A "more correct" term for one heat exchanger is aftercooler, but the name has fallen out of use.

These days it's rare to see intercoolers between two compressors, so the terms intercooler and charge air cooler have coalesced to basically mean the same thing. You're fine for calling it an intercooler.

The belt on my supercharger on my second gen snapped once and I was able to take back roads home (~25miles), it was fine.

For the money, is it a big enough difference?

Are the power gains notable, would you do it again?

I skimmed the video. Nice, you'll have to keep us posted every now and then and let us know if its still smooth sailing. I know Magnuson makes good stuff!

So far so good. My gas mileage is same as usual for this tank. 15.2MPG. I’m
Usually between 14.3 and 16MPG with my stock wheels and such. So the SC hasn’t hurt too much.

the ecu seems to have learned and everything feels smoother now too.

I have a manual taco. I live at a pretty high altitude. The DA during the summer can be 8,000-12,000 feet. I was looking into the SC for a bit more highway power. I frequently need to downshift to 5th or 4th to maintain 70 mph up hills. I also have to pass cars on a two lane road frequently, so being able to do that faster would be nice.

Do you notice a difference in power at all rpms? Like if you're just cruising in 6th and give it some gas, do you notice more acceleration than NA?
