I don't have them, but stainless steel powder coated for $90. I think I will be getting them before the sale is over on Oct. 31

Worth it to me. Keeps everything square plus more tie-down points. They don’t get in my way.

Aren't bed racks / bed bars effectively also bed stiffeners?

I actually made it through the first 6 pages.....

I have found that there is simply NO REASON to add bed stiffeners in MY situation.

    "Bed Stiffeners" prevent lateral movement...Yes/No......

They do! And I am a huge proponent of them in certain situations.

I run a Diamondback HD cover. Someone PLEASE tell me why that does not fix some of the potential "issues" that happen?

I would love to know the thoughts/discussions/issues......

Full disclosure....I still have my Caliraised bed stiffeners new in the box that I have found NO need for with the Diamondback cover.

I would like everyone's thoughts on it.....personally I haven't seen a single issue. However....if I wasn't running the DB HD I would install them for peace of mind

12 pages and only one mention of the ATH bed stiffeners? Not all are created equal! The bottle opener is the most important feature and mine gets used A LOT! :D

The DB HD cover is not as heavy or tall as a topper, still heavier than a roll up or possibly the factory hard tonneau.

IMO, if you aren't bouncing down trails or blasting through the desert, you are most likely okay without the stiffeners.

The stiffeners are not just about tying the sides together, but about stiffening and reinforcing the corners to resist side to side loads.

They are handy for tie downs though.

I read this whole thing and didn’t see this asked... Would the TC ones be weaker because they are taller and there for would have more leverage on them? I like the looks of them the best and want a low profile one. The Cali raised ones are just too bulky.

That's what I have. The bottle opener has saved my ass a few times when I couldn't find one around the house.

My CBI bed bars are pretty tight. I have to pull on them pretty hard to get the bolts started on one side once the opposite side is started. Once my 200+ pound RTT is on top of them, I imagine this tension is negated, or at least minimized.

I don't know, but my thinking is that my bed bars brace to the top and attach to the side rail creating a moment resistant connection at each bed side, then provide a lateral brace across the top in 2 places. So effectively, 2 moment connections at the bed top. All of the bed stiffeners provide 2 moment connections at the bed bottom. What's the difference?

All good points. I did not get my bed bars to act as structural braces, but I guess it is an added benefit. After I took them on and off a few times I realized they provide some tension. I got the bedside braces because they are cheap insurance, the bottle opener is cool and the bedsides spreading is a well known problem.

It is not the height as anything taller than the second vertical bolt or so is just extra material. The real weakness with the TC ones, where most others are way better, is the lack of material in the corner.

Just no. There is no moment connections at the bed rail. If you think there is one, then you are just fooling yourself.

The engineering and OEM flaw has been explained to death in this thread. By a couple other folks and myself.

By themselves or with the Active Cargo System, I'm not a fan. Sorry!

The bolt for the stock D ring is only fastened to the thin sheet metal under the composite bed. You really want to connect with the bed bolt and ideally want the vertical flange to go at least that far inboard. The overlapping joint with the ACS will not do much at all.

In my mind, those would reinforce the composite corner only, not correct the original flaw at in the metal stanchion.

Although if you are using that ACS, you might be limited to those? It is hard to tell from the pics if other brand stiffeners would fit under the ACS?
