I have a 2020 Tacoma TRD Off a Road with around 6,500 miles on it. If I start it after it has been sitting for longer than a couple hours it starts fine (for example, overnight or while I am at work). It also starts fine if I turn it off and then start it up right away. However, if I leave the truck sitting turned off for maybe 15-45 minutes and then start it up, it’s’ startup is really weird sounding (and slightly different each time). The best way I can describe it is that it starts almost instantly without turning over several times and there is usually a single click noise somewhere along the way. Today the click noise was loud to the point where my girlfriend noticed from down the driveway. The weird startup happens regardless of the outside temp. Any ideas/suggestions?

It makes me feel a lot better that at least someone else has seen the same thing, especially if it never caused any actual problems for you.:D

So I ended up taking my truck to the dealership and they kept it for three days saying that they were contacting Toyota. They said they were concerned that the raptor lights that I have running to the INJ fuse are to blame. Today they called and said they had unhooked the fuse tap circuit and weren’t able to duplicate the issue after that. I got the truck back and let it sit for about 30 minutes and on the first startup, it still made the noise. I was finally able to catch a good video of it too. Anyone have any thoughts?

Lets see the video. But im pretty sure it is just how it is. My truck seem to start better/turn over quicker with a tune, might be all in my head though.

What’s the logic behind hooking up aftermarket accessories to voltage sensitive engine management circuits.
