Picked up a '20 TRD OR V6 a couple months ago. It has the usual issues; rumble strip on decel, whistling A/C, etc, but overall a great truck. Lately in Oklahoma, weve hit that weird time of year where its low 50's in the morning and high 80's in the afternoon. This truck is night and day different. I know that vehicles love cooler air, but this truck accelerates better, shifts better, the decel rumble is noticeably less in the cooler wx. Afternoons, this thing is a complete dog. Mash the pedal to the floor to get up and go, decel rumble is horrendous, gear hunting is worse, etc, etc. Truly amazing how a temperature drop can affect so many things. I love the truck still, but think I need to consider a move to Alaska to love it all the time!

Been over a hundred here in SoCal for a long ass time and the only thing I care about is that the AC is cold! I would probably slow down as well in 100+ heat :).

I was surprised to find out that the ECU uses stored values from weather conditions on the last drive as inputs. As with other things on the Toyota tune, it just makes zero sense when conditions can vary widely.

Also, A/C can be a massive power suck. I don't generally use A/C. When I do mainly with the fam is along, even on my MT, the shifting changes due to the engine response. I can be butter smooth with it off and sometime wonky with it on.

You mentioned it was bipolar. Have you tried mashing up any of the prescribed antipsychotic medicines like Zyprexa, Seroquel, or Risperdal, and putting them in the gas tank to see if it helps?

It behaves better in cold air because you have filled it with winter gas. :D

I did recently top off the blinker fluid and replaced the muffler bearings.

Well there's your problem, you forget the maintenance on the piston return springs.

Did you also grease the Johnson rod and re-tighten the Finnigen pin? :stirthepot:

AC makes a big difference on how my truck shifts, thats why i barely use it, also sucks a bit of power. My ranger did feel slower with AC, but it did not affect the shifting one bit.

We have had some cars that managed it better than others. Only one was absolutely seamless.

I had no AC or AC wasnt working on my other previous vehicles, so i cant really compare.

It robs power in my 4.8 chev express work van though, definetily noticable.

I still wish it was an option like the old days, but I'm weird like that.

oh yea, my last vehicle was a 105 HP scion (manual) and that thing was an absolute dog with the a/c on. i literally would turn the a/c off and it would act like a turbo just kicked in during acceleration.

    Me too.

Personally i have no use for AC, i like to drive with open windows. My wife wanted the AC like twice this summer and thats about it. Plus the taco shifts weird with AC on haha.
