Ok maybe I have a bit of a problem, but I have owned 3 of the 5 trim levels of Gen3s, Sport then OR and recently SR and now SR5. I have never had a Limited or Pro. Also have experience with both engines as I had the 2.7 in my SR. Curious as to what others think regarding the perfect trim level. For me, it's the SR5! It has everything I need and nothing I don't:

Intermittent wipers and bed lights over the SR

Cleaner look to me; no bedside decals.

Keyless entry WITH a real key! I like using a real key to have have one less thing in my pocket while driving. I also like that you can keep it in accessory mode without it timing out like the PTS models. Probably more reliable as well.

16" alloy wheels; the gray stock wheels actually look pretty darn good on my truck

Smoother ride; definitely moreso than the sport. OR actually rides pretty nice, but like the SR5 the best.

Does the SR5 weigh slightly less than the Sport with the extra body part or the OR with the extra off road goodies? Can't explain it, but my SR5 gets the best mileage of the bunch.

I don't need sunroof or leather. It's a truck! I have a car for that as well as my wife's 4Runner Limited. Probably why I never have tried the Limited or Pro. I don't need crawl control even here in the midwest. Standard 4x4 is plenty in these trucks.

I'm keeping this one for a long time and if I do ever get another one, I will most likely get a SR5 again.

What is your preference and why?

The only way to get a Manual is with a TRD package so I chose the Off Road.

I like my Off-Road. Came with a locker and I planned on lifting it anyway. No point in getting a Pro.

I’d pick an Off-Road with Sport hood.
Reason would be less money than a pro.

If I was to do it over again, I'd probably go SR5 with 4x4, no prem/tech, no JBL and spend the difference adding gears/lockers (I'm doing a regear anyway) and a stereo (I'm also replacing most of the JBL system). About the only thing I like about keyless entry is not being able to lock the key in the truck.

Coming soon: Compact powered sub install Future mods planned: bigger tires (265/75/16) BILLSTIEN 5100 lift
I considered all of them but the Limited and pro. I bought an SR5. I thought it had everything I wanted and needed. I like the real key. I work in tech and just am not sure about those smart keys. I can and have done off road driving without a locker, it would be nice but not needed for me. I did have to have keyless entry and intermittent wipers and the power seat is great so I don't thing I could live with an SR with out those things.

one thing I would like to do soon is get some bigger tires. like 265/70/16 or 265/75/16. I like the dark grey wheels so no need to change those.

Love my sport, i just wish i had gotten 4wd although i don’t often need it. But i like the sport for the looks mostly. Love the painted fenders/scoop/painted rear bumper caps.

Off road has a manual better suspension than the sport or sr5 . Resale value higher .

I bought the sport strictly because resale value is higher, but now I wish I had spent the cash on an sr5. I've already replaced the wheels and the electronics package is garbage. For the same price I could have bought wheels, tires, and most of a regear. The key is kinda nice but completely unnecessary. I guess I could have gone with the off-road and a manual to skip the need for a regear but I honestly don't like the black fenders and I couldn't get it in old man tan without the orange interior accent without ordering it.

My OR (loaded) with a lift, SSO bumper and 4Runner wheels is the perfect truck. Gonna keep her 8 years or so.

We had this discussion before. He claims its an SR5 trd sport, when its just a trd sport like we all have...

All trds are specced SR5s anyways.

Only Canada has the true Goldilocks trim: the access cab Off-Road MT (LB+locker+MT)

Those Canucks don't know how good they have it.

same for me , but the other way.
Had to be manual, but function>form.
    so locker>scoop.
    therefore off road > sport.

and the pro adds too much useless stuff.

so for me the answer is Off Road is the best trim.
