Well...because it is music. Music hits people in places that they sometimes never knew existed. A song can help someone through a bad patch in their life. Or a song will always be connected to better times. That is why people get connected to musicians. They create meaning for them.
Sorry you don't understand. Maybe let us celebrate the life of Eddie Van Halen for now and you can go on to the next thread and impart your knowledge there.
    Thanks.

Wow! I have no words, rarely have I heard such disrespect for someone’s passing so quickly after their death. It’s not getting upset, but playing a tribute to someone that has touched millions of people with his music.

While you may be unable to have empathy for anyone other than your immediate family and circle of friends, most other people do, and it is comforting to share their feelings with others.

I grew up with Van Halen’s music and it brings back many wonderful memories. Although I did not know him personally, he played a part in my life, and he will be missed.

Damn. Another talented musician I was lucky enough to see perform his craft before his passing.

Doesn't matter if you liked Van Halen or not, the fact is the entire music world lost a true icon today.

Shit. I was in 9th grade when VH dropped. My growing up years all involved that kind of music.

    Wasn't expecting this for sure.

A Sad Day for sure. I seen VH open up for Black Sabbath at Madison Square Garden on August 27th 1978.
It was part of Van Halen’s world tour.
    They we’re amazing!
    RiP Eddie.
