    Tried the search.
Looking for ways to mount a holster for easy access to my EDC Sig p365.

not in the center console. I want fast and easy access and I’m looking to see what you’ve done/made/modified.

    thanks!

Yeah- there’s only one pic of it under the steering column. Then a bunch of cross talk and “come at me bro” BS.

    looking for some ideas.

I pocket carry. But that’s not accessible when driving so I’m looking for a way to holster it in the truck. I wouldn’t leave the pistol in my truck and walk away. I don’t understand your point? What are you talking about?

Is your strong hand your right or left ?? It comes down to this where placing the attached holster in a vehicle.

After years of carrying having my Right hand the strong side cross draw on my left hip was my best option for carry at any time.

With practice drawing while seated in your vehicle becomes muscle memory the time having to reach for a weapon when exiting the vehicle can make a large difference .

I live in mass and occasionally end up in CT. If I’m heading down there, I don’t carry- no reciprocity. So if I’m in mass I can carry everywhere I ever need to go. The pistol does not stay in the truck. So I’m looking for a place to put it where it’s easily accessible and I want to be comfortable in the seat. Hence the reason I’m looking for a holster idea.

You are the same guy from the other thread! Did you see my link about the side center console MOLLE rack?

I'm also from MA and I've thought about this before. My conclusion - invest in a more comfortable holster/gun.
Reasoning - you have a few places (with some modification) within reach and depending on your had dominance - door pocket, little coin tray by cruise control, attached to center council by right knee, between seat and center next to the seat belt buckle. A problem is that technically you can't leave the cab with the gun unsecured (and likely visible), even for something like filling with gas. Also, I don't like unholstering/holstering my gun any more then I have to, especially in the confines of a car seat to move it from one holster to another. Yes, sometimes you have to do it but it's not a great idea. Also, if you get pulled over the traffic stop will be a much longer process if the cop sees the gun, rather then if you tell him (or not tell him) that you are carrying concealed.

A quality belt and quality kydex holster will allow you to access your gun seated or standing without dealing with the “ill put it back on” logic. There’s really no good reason to pocket carry every day. The whole car holster thing is just a band aid to enable a poor carry method.

I’m really not trying to burst your bubble. Pocket carry is probably better than not carrying at all, but I really think a good holster and belt will probably serve you better in the long run.

    some good kydex companies:
    Tier 1 Concealed
    TREX arms
    NSR Tactical

    good belts:
Magpul’s Tejas belt is actually pretty good
    SOE gear
I think raven concealment has a good belt... go to warrior poet society’s website to double check.

That's why I like that Molle rack. I haven't installed it myself, but I feel like anything with a clip would be easy to attach and detach.

I clicked the link which took me to an older thread where it had one pic of a holster and then a bunch of people going back and forth about who's is bigger... If I'm remembering correctly, there wasn't any real info in that thread.

I'm thinking of under the knee panel or on the side of the center console. I found a video where a guy modified a left side Serpa style holster and bolted it to the center console. He also modded the release so it does click but then if you pull the pistol it'll still come out without having to push the release in.

can you resend the link? I've seen molle panels for 2nd and 3rd gen Tacomas that go along the sides of the center console. I'd love one to go in my 1st gen.

I understand that many people don't like pocket carry and it may not be the most preferred style of carry, but it works for me- and has worked for about the last 5 years. I've got an IWB holster- I used to be heavy but lost about 50 lbs so now I've got a little excess on the love handles that won't go away. IWB carry has been uncomfortable for me so this is what I prefer. The good reason for pocket carry is that I like it, find it comfortable, and because of these I carry every single day. It just is what it is. I also carry it at work- wearing a polo tucked into khakis. So, an IWB is not an option. Pocket carry also works for me on my motorcycle.

For sure. I always like to at least put the information out there in case people haven’t ever tried it. If you found something that works for you more power to you.

I don't either. I'm not sure what the major difference is between first and second gens; maybe you can find someone with both to snap a photo of that area of their vehicles, just for a comparison?

Laws are different everywhere. And again- it’s never left in the truck. The only way to steal my gun is to carjack me or shoot me first. Hence why I’d like it accessible while driving.
