How much did your weatherstrips stick up before? I wish I'd gotten my holes punched slightly more precise than I did even using the tape marking technique. Hoping some 3M tape will help keep them down.

What's the back story on this? Was it not installed with silicone?

The front lip of the passenger side was not clipped in before, so it was causing some wind noise.

A&A Toppers in Littleton, CO did the original install. They did my topper the same day. They said they do lots of these specific racks from UpTOP. I saw how butchered the holes were after install so I asked if they at least used silicone. They said no, that the butyl rubber would be enough to keep the water out. Riiiiight.

The best method to create your holes is using a punch and a dremel. Dremel the metal strip in the bottom of the moulding, then punch a clean hole in from the top. If you don't dremel the metal strip, using a punch alone can cause some warping on the moulding strip as the punch will struggle to get through the metal. Also, don't use too much silicone in any hole, or it can get between the moulding tape and the body, preventing the tape from adhering to the body at all. Ask me how I know, lol.

About $160 shipped for the pair. Look online at various dealerships. Almost always cheaper than your local dealership pickup.

Maaaaan just had to throw the guilt trip in with the kids.. *sigh* fine. I'll go acquire some while we wait.
I'm curious if I can't use those same mounts, turn them and successfully mount my vault cases (read cheaper pelican) onto the roof rack.

You can do anything you put your mind to.

I've always been cautious about sticking my head close to sharp things, though.
