What is this? Maybe a manual transmission leak?

The brownish drippy spot on the sheep grease is the focus

Touch it and smell it is my first step in ID'ing leaks. Is it greasy? Does it smell like ATF/Gear oil?

It's dripping on the tranny mount, so best guess if it's a leak is tranny fluid. Is the drain or fill plug located above? Any sign of leaks above this spot? If it's dripping off something there must be a wet spot or some sign of leak up above.

I touched itH Hadbasically no odor mixed with the sheep grease!
It did seem to be oddly thicker than gear oil but idk
    And darker?

Did you look above it for runs or drips of the same color? Really the only place it could come from in that spot is transmission.

i will try to get the camera to zoom up there for a decent pic, there's not much for shoulder room to slither underneath (stock height), that pic was a challenge in and of itself from the passenger side
perhaps my wretched neck will get better to get a closer look!, its not been good lately all of a sudden the other day and difficulties to get any good rest with this chronic crap
    I'm shot :annoyed:

this is what it looked like nearly a month ago!
i see no brownish drip there, how fast would it be leaking if that is what it is

It almost looks like a mix of water and oil .No telling what reactions different things might have with your sheep fat covering spray.

How big a puddle is under the truck when stopped for a few minutes ??

No noticeable puddles yet, this has not run in the rain yet dry as a bone in the central plains drought conditions
    Sheep fat ftw!

If you really want to find out what might be leaking clean all your Sheep grease off get down to the naked truck.

Do you have a solid spray of the leaked fluids all the way under the truck to the rear bumper

It can only be gear oil , engine oil or coolant something slopped up you drove through .

A reaction to the Sheep grease to something on the truck when applied or something slopped on reacting

maybe its just engine oil from filter that blew back there from the last oil change 2700 ago  would that oil find its way back there to that area in the wind from whatever drained onto the splash shields from the filter being taken off
i had instructed not to remove splash shield plates since i just had them powder coated HD black super gloss :burp:
right after i had the engine oil and filter replaced i drove it for half a day in 30-50 mph winds rolling down the highway to Wyoming

Mine looks like this due to a timing chain cover leak. I've had the leak for four years. It doesn't leak enough for me to spend the 1k to fix it. I did my valve covers without replacing the moon gaskets as the moon gaskets were solid. Clean it up to figure out where it's coming from.

When I went for service with my 4Runner which is pristine like new, the service technician wrote that there is a oily looking liquid all over the front suspension and suspected my front shocks are leaking, but it looks for to much liquid all over the place to come just from two shocks. I explained it is fluid film (he never heard of it) and for sure shocks are not leaking.

So the conclusion is that if you have your sheep fat or whatever coating it is, there is no way to tell if anything is leaking unless you see a puddle under the truck.

Have you figured out what if anything you have leaking ??

Remember a rear main seal leak will likely take out the clutch oil and clutch material don`t play well.
