My truck is stock except for sliders and bumper. The thing I would replace is the tires.

Well there are guys here i know with older gen2 tacomas that would tell you different. I've noticed when i went to a slightly wider 265/70 16 tire i've constantly got about 1/2-3/4 of a mpg less over the same roads with my 2020 taco. I would suspect it would be even worse when swapping to tires larger than that. As far as messy roads i found the stock tires, or very close to work better under most road conditions. Larger tires better for deep mud.

Complete BS, can’t fight physics. I switched from stock O/R wheels and tires to 2020 Pro wheels and slightly heavier 265/75/16 Cooper tires and lost .5-1MPG.

Ok. I must be lying then.

Also, i drove an identical truck with MT and stock tires and it drove absolutely the same as mine, no difference whatsoever.

On my ranger i lost about 3-4 mpgs when i installed pro comp wheels and duratracs. It was horrible on gas.

I didn’t mention anything about driving differently. I was strictly talking about MPGs and the effect of bigger/heavier tires.

Like i said, i noticed no difference whatsoever. Maybe 0.05 mpg? :notsure: KO2s are very well designed regarding rolling resistance, maybe that is why.

Duratracs killed my MPGs, its a hybrid tire though and was e load.

Edit: i removed my ugly chin spoiler as well and still get advertised MPGs on oversized C load tires.

They do scratch very easy yes. I honestly barely wash my rims anymore, its matte black so you cant really see the dirt. I just hit them with a big brush once in a while.

I had gloss pro comps and man, what a bitch to keep clean.

clean AF! I almost went white but wife hated it. I got quicksand instead. I have always thought white tacos with blackout wheels/trim looks great!

I didn't mention going from the stock all season tires to a set of heavier a/t tires likely caused some fuel economy lost to. At least i know they will perform better on winter roads when they get messy here.

Going to 285 size tires will mean you are actually traveling about 3% further than the truck thinks it is. So you are 1/2 mpg better than the truck thinks it is getting. Some call this negligible.

My personal experience is adding a stell bumper, lift, winch and MT tires gave me just around 15mpg on highway @70mph. Not sure which is the biggest offender.
