    Just an odd thought I had while people brought up fuel economy and then skid plates - I was thinking aftermarket skid plates should give considerable aerodynamic advantage as opposed to the stock format.

    If one were to get all flat panels front to back and have good coverage (like RCI and Mobtown skids), they should reduce drag underneath the truck on the highway and improved MPG. Much like sports cars and time attack builds have full underbody panels for aero purposes.

    Curious to hear some thoughts, or experiences. I'm by no means an expert so I'm might just be overanalyzing this.

    That’s a deep thought, but all that is negligible when you have lift, heavy tires, bumpers etc... it’s more in the territory of “do bed covers gain .5mpg?” Some claim they do.

    I guess so, but skids + bed cover each giving 0.5mpg = 1mpg?

    oh well, I guess I can let it go, maybe someone can use that reasoning to convince their significant other that new skids are a good idea :thumbsup::evil:

    Does anyone here know about a trail just north of Shelbourne that starts/ends on Line 5?
    It's the closest thing I know about and I thought to do the turkey run on sunday...

    I think it would be more likely that Toyota designed and tested it to suit their mileage needs

    If it made a measurable difference of even 0.2 mpg, Toyota would have done it in plastic. Toyota already does more onerous things like that ugly airdam, low-viscosity T-case oil, and small tires.

    Idk 100% what it is, but after the Ardbeg trip, it's like my starter has a hard time turning the engine to start it up.
    i suspected it was one of a hand ful of things;
    • Bad ground
    • Alternator gone bad due to mud/ partial submerged
    • Starter gone bad due to being submerged
    • Battery going tits up after 2-1/2 years

    @tgelata, as i shot you a text with, i did check the battery voltage (12.4V measured) and while the truck is on and charging (13.6V). I think we're good to say that it's not the alternator that had gone to shit.

    @Snail81 I just checked my Aux panel. i do have a bleed somewhere along the wire that goes to the bed LEDs, everything else is fine, but only bleeds about 0.1 to 0.4v. i think it's the switch in the bed since it's not a waterproof switch, but regardless I pulled the fuse out for it and nothing is showing anymore.
    but i can also say it's not my Aux panel since after shutting off the truck for about 5 minutes and getting back to it - it does the same stuttering start up as i mentioned. I did go back to try and tighten the ground clamp again and i'm currently waiting for a new one to replace what i have.

    plausible issues;
    • Battery holds 12v but CCis no longer something it can do
    • bad ground
    • starter

    anyone else have any ideas what could be causing it? is there a way to check if the starter is good or bad?
