Hi, I’m planning to get a truck but thinking whether it’s better to lease for a couple of years given the new hybrid trucks coming out over the next few years. If I buy now will I get the typical resale of new hybrids come out and make the gas only options less desirable?

I think you're good for 5 or 6 years. Just buy one, they're great.

If you really want the hybrid (I haven't read anywhere that Toyota has officially confirmed they're doing that, but they may have) then I would wait for the hybrid. Why spend the money now on a truck knowing that you want something else is a few years.

Hybrids are 2022 for tundra, but not confirmed, the landcruiser and tacoma are further out it seems.

I wouldn't hold out based on that. Tacoma takes 10 years to change, 2024/2025 will likely be the big change.

I’m not too concerned about getting a hybrid. More just wanting the resale when it comes to selling it.

Any TRD model is the best resale, stay away from red and you'll be gold if you want to offload it after a year or more.

I had one for 1.6 years and unloaded it no issue.

Buy a truck now and put in a deposit on a Rivian.
Next fall when the Rivian is about to be delivered, sell whatever you bought now. Then buy a small-medium Honda generator and a jerry can if the 400+ mile range isn't enough.
