Looking for advice on one of these trucks. The Tacoma would be the 4 door version, whilst the Silverado would be the access cab. I would be primarily wanting to use it for camping trips as well as a daily driver. I’m leaning towards the Silverado based on specs and price but appreciate some opinions. The f150 v8 is also on my list. It’s my first truck, and moving up from a rav4.

Let's just say I've researched the truck market for the last several years. I grew up a Chevrolet person and always wanted a Silverado. However, after researching and researching and researching new trucks since 2015, I was sold on the F150. That's saying a lot. Had I gone full size, I probably would have stuck with the F150. However, I ended up getting the Tacoma due to lifestyle, but also due to not needing a full size pickup. After my research, and personal experiences, as well as seeing what coworkers have gone through, I don't trust GM as far as I can throw them. I'd still probably get one over a RAM though.

The 2021 Ford f150 would be the ideal truck for camping. It has an onboard generator and a few other fun stuff. It also has better great mpg vs Tacoma. On the other hand, Tacoma's hold their appreciation better.

Well you're comparing apples and oranges. One is a full-size and the other is a mid-size truck and they are both designed differently. You have to determine which type of truck you need/want and then test drive both and see which you like best.

Thanks, but my use will be for the same purpose. Would I appreciate the extra power and size of the Silverado?

if you want a full size get the Tundra, and do it now while it is the v8. Buy a Chevy and it will shit the bed on you as soon as the warranty is out - I know because after having two I said NO MORE!

Mostly stock with a few minor mods.
I had a Silverado for a number of years. Not again. Constantly working on it to keep it going and once the bed starts rusting around the wheel wells and tailgate, good luck stopping it. The Tacoma is about as maintenance free of a truck you can get (if you keep up on the routine maintenance).
