just noticed this today when my buddy and i went to go find some mud. my 2000 tacoma has a blinker issue. the drivers side blinker light is on in my truck. not flashing but steady on. now out side my truck its the same thing. just a steady on bulb. even if i put the left blinker on nothing changed. i can put the right blinker on and that works but the left one still stays on. also my 4 ways wont work just lights up both lights and they both stay on.

    any ideas?
    relay maybe?

    thanks
    brett

None of the blinker lights would normally have anything to do with whether your headlights or just your parking lights were turned on or not. Right?

Check your brake lights/ tail lights for burned filaments. You'll probably have to pull all these bulbs to inspect them to be certain. This includes the blinkers.

yeah, maybe relay. my experience with bad bulbs has been, due to unbalanced load, a faster signal blinking or steady on but when a relay sticks you can get some silly effects. wish i could tell you where that relay is though!

well hey, here's this much: a relay's job is to switch from one state to the other and back and forth. if it's stuck in on state then that's all it's gonna do. does that apply at all?

yea but shouldnt it only do that when i actually turn the blinker on? this stays on when i just turn my lights on regardless of whether i turn the signal light on or not and even when i turn the other side on (which works fine) the other one doesnt shut off.

sounds like the switch inside the stalk is stuck or broken, maybe. doesnt explain why the other side still works ok

not really because the other side works ok... both turn signals share a flasher

the 4 ways are on a different flasher... unless your truck has a flasher module... then it could be a bad one of those, try that first

looks like you have old style flashers... the system should be simple to troubleshoot... you could have a bad ground on the driverside too

I'm with Yoytoda. I think you have a ground problem on that side. I'd try grounding the light socket base with a jumper wire and see if the dash light goes out.

I would try pulling the plug from the back of the hazard button and cleaning it. If it is not plugged in, the turn signals don't work at all. There might be something going on in the switch harness that's not allowing that part to shut off.

pulled the 4 way switch out and nothing happened. when i turn my lights off both blinkers front and back on both sides work perfectly. and when i have my lights off with my 4 ways on they work fine also. when i turn my park lights or my headlights on that is when this stupid light comes on and stayes on. I removed the bulbs front and rear again and cleaned everything again and put it all back again. also i checked all the fuese and relays and they are all working properly and none are blown.

    anyone got anything else? haha
