There's a 4Runner being parted out. If I PayPal you the money, will you pick up some parts for me?

thinking of trading my 2019 2wd for a 2020 and up 4wd. yay or nay? should i wait for the next gen revamp? talk me down. Probably not worth losing my positive equity in the truck even if it is 2wd...

Just remember new gen revamps come with unknown problems. Unless you can't get places you need or want to go with 2wd I'd stick with what you've got.

Yeah, it's not so much of a need for 4wd as is to just wanting it. I'm hoping we are getting a turbo 4 cylinder option for the next gen... i hope. I doubt they will give us the v6 turbo for the next gen tacomas like the tundra. But i'd be all over a 2.X I4 turbo if it happens on the next gen.

I would keep what you have unless you need 4wd . And what @jpneely said the revups on new model is always comes with issues

Good ol Toyota sunroof parts! I knew going in this 4Runner had sunroof issues. I wasn't aware that you couldn't buy the cables separately or that the sunroof seal is only available with the sunroof! Instead of the cables, you have to buy the whole cassette which comes with the motor for $1300. The sunroof itself is $550. I can see why there was silicone on it when we took the glass out. :D I'm going to do the same. Brought it into the shop, had a technician check it out and get the sunroof level all of the way around. So at least it won't leak. But as an added measure, I'm gonna FIPG that B$&CH. Just to be sure it doesn't leak.
Or at least until I find another redneck solution. I'm not paying $2,000 to have a working sunroof. In the meantime I've disconnected the motor.

Nah, i mainly was just taking advantage of toyotas buy back and always offering to get you into a newer vehicle for the same payment. My truck is two years old and i love it to death, but i always entertain if they can get me into a 4wd.

Long story short, I needed a truck after selling my Sierra Z71. I had that truck for lil over two years and maybe engaged the 4wd once. I sell it because warrenty was up and i owed just enough on it to sell it and put some money in pocket vs. keeping it and paying it off since it was just out of warrenty. So i sold it and got a beater. One year later, i needed a truck again. Got a tacoma because i just wanted something simple and with a truck bed. I didn't realize after purchasing how much i'd love the truck. And i started getting the mod bug and got wheels and tires and now want to do a lift and other adventure components. So now the truck is slowly becoming more of a hobby and now i'm enticed to make it more of my love by getting 4wd and really vesting into making it an adventure rig.

you do realize this is a trap right? You might have the same payment, but you are starting the length of the loan all over again...you will never pay a vehicle off this way.

yes yes yes i know. I'd have to really want the truck. I like my truck none the less, it's just taking advantage of the effort if it's gets me into a 4wd. I understand that i'm starting over the length of the loan.

I traded my 2006 Prerunner in on the 2013 4x4. No regrets on that decision either. Of course I then sold the 2013 Taco and bought a 2003 4Runner. :D I may be having slight regrets because all the stuff I'm having to fix. But then again, I knew going into it, any older car with higher mileage was going to need work. Even after fixing stuff, I'm still in it for about half of what I paid for the 2013 Taco.
