Morning, peoplefaces.
Snapped a photo with the moose antlers deployed during my wood run last night for your viewing amusement.

Normally I'd say that it should be fine, but coming into winter with an MDS 5.3 I'd say save it for next summer and get the right oil for the cold weather months.

 

They may look dumb, but I'm okay with it because they work awesome.

 

I saw a Ford Focus with those mirrors on it a few months ago... That was impressive.

 

Well, the deed is already done, I guess I'll just plan to change this oil early.

 

Despite it apparently burning through oil how do you like the Crosstrek?

 

Probably won't kill anything, might just wanna let the truck warm up some before driving on colder mornings

 

Oh, yeah for towing they're awesome. I think the making fun of part is when people leave them extended all the time.

I see that kind of stuff a decent amount. People who tow snowmobiles, small boats, etc with cars or small SUVs will slap them on.

Do you have a block/pan heater? I know some people in Maine did when I was up there. The coldest part of the winter will be Jan/Feb, if you're up for an oil change before the holidays, you'll be fine. Don't think you need to overthink it.

 

Oh shit, I'm the a-hole that remote starts my truck if it's below 60f for like 10 minutes every morning.

I say just make sure to floor it immediately after starting up. Lay strips down your driveway every day to ensure proper warmup and you're good.

 

Well I already don't understand the 0-20 deal... when I was growing up it was all 10-40 so those numbers seem weird to me. But modern vehicles are weird. Just want to make sure the thing doesn't melt down on the road. At least for something my fault... it's a GM after all so it might anyway.

Realistically, if I wasn't so picky with vehicles, its perfect for NE. It has AWD, it gets great mileage with that disgusting CVT heap of shit of a transmission, and it has 9" of ground clearance.

This vehicle is just a lot of things that I don't like in a car. Its automatic. Its white. It has a light interior. Its slow. Its practical and cost efficient. Its the only unmodified vehicle I own, and I have absolutely no desire to do anything to it, not even regular maintenance...

Gotta get the heat in the tires for winter driving!!!!
