Hey guys, Im trying to think of a good christmas present for myself, as my mother won't quit bothering me about it. They salt the roads here pretty heavily here in Omaha, Nebraska and I thought a membership to a carwash would be a rockin present for me and the Tacoma. The previous owner had a carwash membership in Minneapolis, MN and always kept it clean. Anybody know any places that offer this?

Google search for full service car washes in your area. I would call them and ask how much a 6 month membership would cost or whatever you want. Around here they're about $250+.

Or have her buy you some gift certificates for a few car washes.

I always buy my mother-in-law car wash gift certificates.

Afterall.... when the nice weather rolls around, you can hand wash your own truck (bonding, you know...).

A chain-car wash place around here called Auto-Bell has memberships for a decent price, and you can buy different packages from the basic exterior wash to the full package that included complete exterior w/ undercarriage and interior detail w/ vacuum. I've been there a couple times and they do a good job for a respectable price.

I don't reccomend carwashes..they destroy paint finishes  IMHO.

If you have to go to a carwash a touchless/brushless is what you may want to consider, Otherwise prepare for swirls in your clear coat.

Most the so called detailers at autobells and the rest don't flip their drying rags as they are trained to do. They want to get it done quickly. As a result they spread the fine grit and scratches on your clear coat. Just an observation for what its worth.

Hand wash only is the way to go.:D

I think the carwash idea is a good one. I would love something like that for Christmas. For those that live in areas that never get above freezing for weeks on end auto car washes are your friend.

I don't use the kinds with spinning plastic whips at a gas station car wash. I either use a touchless drive through or have a chain company do it that. It's important to apply a good layer of wax just before winter. In the spring you can wax it again and it will look perfect.

Russell Speeders does not offer a membership but I'll have to ask about gift certificates. Is Dolphins the crazy expensive carwash by oakview mall? I'll give them and VIP a call.

X2. i worked at a carwash as a towelboy for a couple years back in the day. the "cloth" washes will put swirlmarks in your paint over time. the touchless is a better way to go, even though they don't really get the dirt off. i use a touchless through the coldest months as i have nowhere to use mah bucket. i use them sparringly though...the "prewash" soultion is usally a mild alkaline ACID that will strip your wax and fade the vinyl/rubber trim.

is there a "handwash" in your area? there are a couple private outfits in town here that will use a good old bucket and sponge for around $10-$15.
