Nah, game is full of them though. I miss the days of maybe 30 people on the entire game on weekdays.

I get it. Honestly I'm not bagging on you personally. I did think originally you were in one of the bot buyers groups and my bad for targeting you, it was meant against scalping like I said which I've always found disheartening. I don't like it on concert tickets or anything at all. The same thing is happening with console preorders right now. I know people with 2-3 preorders in ready to list the things at $1K and I hate it with every part of my being.

Buying a graphics card shouldn't have to be something where you need notification bots or some special tactic to get even one card. Things will normalize, this will pass as they say, but I don't like that this is probably the new reality. It used to be you got first in line in an even competition with everyone else and it was first arrived, first served. Now it seems those with the bots, or the best bots paid or not, will be first in line followed by everyone else. That's a shitty reality, like I said. Kind of takes the fun out of new product launches.

The pandemic has been a scalpers wet dream. Hand sanitizer, toilet paper, bicycles, Nintendo Switches, computer parts, webcams, etc...

It's really nice having all your slots full.

I'm kind of a completionist so I got a 4x8 set instead of 2x16 and getting 32 more later mainly as I just wanted all slots full, plus it runs in dual channel when all your slots are full so that's cool even if it doesn't impact much.

I haven't come close to using all 32 gigs of ram that I know of yet so I probably didn't even need that much.

Some games take advantage of aura sync and lighting effects so like when playing Far Cry 5 it's cool to see the keyboard do a waving flag thing and see all the ram go to purple at night or red when you're taking damage etc. otherwise it's just nice to stare at the rainbow puke.

I really wanted to go HEDT and have 6 ram slots but ultimately that was out of budget and even what I have is way beyond what I need but I only build a new rig when I feel like I have to, my last rig was a 2600k system.

I have 2x8GB right now and I just don't think I can truly justify shelling out $170+ for the 4x8GB (or 4x16GB) just so I can be anal about it. I mean, maybe I will.... Maybe someone will have a sale. :notsure:
I just wish G.Skill made dummy sticks lol

All motherboards available now will run in dual channel with just two sticks in the four slots as long as the motherboard supports dual channels and the sticks are plugged into the correct two slots.

That being said I also filled all four slots because pretty lol.

I still can't believe dummy sticks are a thing. When Gigabyte came out with the first kit I scratched my head but they must of sold because it seems like most companies are coming out with similar kits.

I recently got a great deal on an old HP docking station ($35 brand new) for my wife's HP laptop. It's an older Elite series laptop, but it still works great. I need to put the laptop and docking station inside a desk drawer, because she's complaining about loss of desktop space. I was going to cut out some air holes on the sides of the desk drawer for some air (it's an Ikea unit, so I don't care). I can also cut holes in the bottom since it's a single row drawer. But I think I'll need more air in there. I don't have vertical room in the drawer, so laptop cooling pad is out. Any ideas for USB powered fan products I can integrate into the sides/bottom of the drawer for some added cooling?

I'm really happy with Asus MOBOs. I've used them for every build over the last 15+ years.

I would use something like these, a minimum of 2 intake, 2 exhaust. 120mm would be better if you have the space, I used something similar for airflow in a home entertainment cabinet at an old house.

Honestly I haven't had a terrible motherboard from anyone in a long time. Asus used to be top dog IMHO back in the mid 2000s when everyone else was cheaping out on capacitors but since that debacle I think all the majors are pretty even.

If I swap it'll be to match my new 3090 and give the middle finger to MSI. They got caught red handed. I was really hoping nVidia would punish them somehow but it doesn't appear that will be the case.

I use a set of these in my media center to cool a really bad 4K TV box. They move a ton of air and are dead quiet. They also include removable rubber feet that really isolate any noise.

Yeah, I thought it was kinda dumb but now I have a case with a side panel and only two sticks of RGB RAM in there...

Mistake my ass. If you're gonna do it, at least be smarter about it, I guess.

5000 series naming. 19% higher IPC, 8 core units now (per CCX), and double the cache.

Holy crap. 28% frame rate increase on average over the Zen2 family at 1080P on average with high end GPUs. They really nailed single thread performance. 20% faster single core than Intel now in Cinebench. Uplift over Intel finally over the 10900K, looks like low single digit over that processor in game without optimization.

Available November 5. Everything. Even the 16 core 5950X. No tiered launch.
