What is the rear axle spring perch width? I don't have a 1st gen handy to measure it and the all knowing interwebs is turning up nothing.

Tacos run 2.5” wide springs if that’s what your asking. You mean center to center from one to the other?

I didn't have a good way to measure my old axle, but on my truck the springs measured 41 to 41 1/16 outside to outside in front and behind the axle. Factor in 1.25" less per side and you've got 38 1/2 to 38 9/16 center to center - but are you mocking up an axle without a truck there?

I want to say I came up with 39.5" center pin to center pin perch width when I swapped in a different rear. Can't find it in my notes. YMMV and as always no guarantees from truck to truck.

So I am trying to figure out how to center a 9.5 LC diff. I have a 9.5 semi float housing and there's just enough to center it with full float outers and the wms-wms will be 64". I just needed to draw it up and see what it looks like on paper. There might be enough there to make it 67"ish but I'm stopping at 64".
    That's what I thought 39.5 or 40

I mean just measure outside of your frame and divide the width by two on each side - if you’re going with a standard leaf setup. I forgot to when I was over there. I’ll take another measurement when I’m back at the truck when I’m ove there this week.

No worries. Like I said I was just drawing it up. My truck is halfway across the country right now and I was mainly looking for the numbers to see if out boarding 2.0 shocks was possible, which it is.

SAS with the fj80 9.5 hybrid. There is a thing as too wide. You loose some of that tight trail maneuvering. 64"-65" is a good comprise imo. Plus it should use all parts from an fj80 which makes finding replacements easy. Plus it's not a hard core wheeler. More of just a good all around truck for trails, hunting, camping, and going to the grocery store.

If you know what you’re using it for it’s all good. I’m 69” front and 68” rear and am basically at 1.5” and 1” over on a 2nd gen which fits anywhere in the desert but that’s where I plan on using my truck. Fitting a 2.0 shock at full tuck is going to need 1/2” on the outside of the frame between the shock and the frame plus shock width and clearance you need between the tire and the shock.

Right, I almost had it last time when I had an fj80 rear in there. An extra inch or so would make it work. So 65" and some low back space wheels should make it happen. And if not no big deal.

I like that idea. What mounts are those? Honestly, I'm still in planning and collecting phase. I found a guy that's going to only charge 55/hr for work I can't do. I don't have access to a shop and tools anymore. So now I gotta pay for it.

They are from Barnes4wd. I highly recommend their builder parts and they have great customer service if you need to call with questions. https://www.barnes4wd.com/Frenched-Shock-Tower-Pair_p_305.html

Decent price on those - you could make some pretty easily, of course at $55 an hour that's not gonna be cost efficient.

Are you suggesting boxing it and then cutting a section out and welding tube in to replace it and have the shock pass through?
