No need the tundra will kick it’s butt with torque, but as you can recall by seeing all the previous posts nobody mentioned torque including you. Only power.

....Lack of torque is the reason the truck, even supercharged, doesn't move like the Tundra. I'm not sure why people don't get that.

I think you are preaching to the choir.
Nobody was questioning that. HP is related to torque though.
for info of whoever is reading this
Stock Taco RW Torque = about 227lb*ft
Magnuson Taco RW Torque = 275lb*ft according to magnuson and 297lb*ft from an above dyno run
    Stock 5.7 tundra RW Torque = 345lb*ft
    HP = Torque x RPM ÷ 5252

Initially I figured that the Taco would be way ahead of a Tundra with a SC since it would be putting out similar HP and weight 1000 pounds less, I was hoping to even go to 6.0 secs 0-60 given the weight advantage but the torque is what's holding it back it seems.

Why does every thread on this forum with magnuson in the name in it come down to someone throwing mud at our TT kit.
Calculated load control, tuning...we literally wrote the software.
All other things you listed are install errors or inferior parts.
Nobody has to monitor AFR, knock, nothing. Setup is designed to run like stock.

Anyways great review OP, it is a nice unit for sure!

Thank you! I can’t wait to see some turbo Tacoma’s running around too.
None of these kits would be around with out your tuning software either so thank you for that.

I’m waiting on the turbs or a good tune for the SC. All we want is low end power. I’m sure the SC is great and from these videos it’s better than I’ve personally thought those other reviews were awful. But I don’t see the low end torque everyone wants. Correct if I’m wrong but weren’t the torque curves on this similar under 3k to a ov tuned truck?

I don’t know. Most dyno runs don’t start recording until about 3000rpm unless you specifically ask the operator to run lower. I don’t have enough data to compare. There seems to be A good bit more power down low and a couple people above corroborate that.

You can further increase the throttle response and quickness of boost on the magnuson kit by removing the metered orifice in the bottom of the vacuum bypass valve. This has been a tuner trick on magnuson superchargers for years.
it doesn’t hurt anything to remove it. It is there to slow the onset of the bypass valve opening and closing to improve road manners similar to NA.

Nice!!! They took it all the way down to 1750rpm!
If I’m bored later I’ll make an excel graph comparing yours and OVTune. Too busy today though.

Any answer on this one, guys? I’m driving a couple hours because I couldn’t find a local shop so leaving something behind they will need is something I want to avoid.

In that case, can't wait for the bolt on OVT kits with 0 issues. I'll be watching. To tell people running a twin turbo kit on an engine NOT designed for it not to watch afr or kr is insane, and exactly part of the reason people throw mud at you.

You know that boost from a SC and boost from a Turbo isn't inherently different?...

Somehow magically because it is a SC AFR and KR doesn't need monitored? ...

Was this engine designed for a supercharger?

Making a FI kit that requires you to watch AFR and KR is a setup destined to fail from the start.

Please keep this thread about the Magnuson SC. If you have questions or comments come to our TT thread. And please don't make comments out of ignorance, you have no idea what we have worked on to make our kit function like the truck came with it.

Less boost and cylinder pressure esp at low rpms alleviating a lot of risk of lspi, less risk for wg malfunctions and/or overboost conditions. No custom load control tuning involved because you get what you get with a blower. Not like a wg line pops off or develops a hole and suddenly you have to worry if your tune can shut the throttle plate before it runs out of fuel and leans out, clips the maf reading, goes over load and bends a rod or breaks a driveline component, pulls massive kr, etc. You also aren't trying anything into the factory oil or cooling system.

Hilarious you think they're the same safety wise.

You're the one coming into the Magnuson thread saying how your product is going to be bolt on worry free like this one is. We will see how that plays out for you. And regardless of what you say... The install itself is going to be way more labor intensive.

you are bringing your knowledge from a boosted Mazda 3 which is the even more unreliable sister of a boosted Subaru. My friends had them my families had them they are fun but we all agree they are unreliable. Toyota not so much.

    You trolled and he responded.

OVTune has been supportive and a cheerleader of the Magnuson product.

What's your hang-up and why do you feel you need to be combative?
