I used the FAB Defense GL stock. I like FAB Defense products. So far it looks good and feels pretty nice. This one has small changeable internal 'cheeks'so it will fit snugly on both milspec and commercial buffer tube. Could be a little more snug but still feels good.

You're not the first one to say this about the Henry actions, another reason I'm hesitant about buying one, but I still love the looks though. All of my Marlins are slicker than owl's butter.

Been considering a level 45-70. After researching/reviewing both Henry and Marlin on various forums, seems as though Marlin is the winner.
Considering this in 45-70 for deer, moose and bear here in Maine. Really thick woods with most shots under 50yds.

Just something a little different than the ordinary. 30-06 is quite common here.

Gun prices are insanely astronomical nowadays. Ammo too. If you ain't got it by now, then you're gonna pay a hefty markup for everything gun related.

stupid question but would it work properly if I didn’t get the riser mount right away? New to this all and don’t wanna drop another @115$ today even though I probably will buy sooner than later

No, it's the XS sight system. It comes with the rail, rear ghost ring peep and a fantastic white stripe front post. I have Skinner sights on my 336, but the XS sights on this 1895. The XS is much better IMO.

Ahhh...I do recall reading about that in my research (Marlin vs Henry). Marlin was the clear winner IMO.

    Thank you.
