$30k for a 500' run? Is this for a new 100amp service? I'll ask the electrician at my work, maybe I can get you a number of someone who will do it.

It’s for pulling primary but they included installing a new pole and running primary across the road and adding a riser...

we already have a pole with primary on a riser... the national grid engineer is a complete retard and has been this way for months.
Took 3 months for our line sketch from him.

I’ve complained and escalated to his supervisor. Normally I’d feel bad but this guy has been a worthless asshole.

And just got an email the price is right and they want us to put a new pole in even tho they installed the previous pole and transformer less than 5 years ago.

    Fuck national grid

fuck the state government for allowing monopolies

fuck Charlie baker for almost everything he does including breath.

Okay, that’s my rant for the day. Hopefully @lynyrd3 isnt on here in a few hours with his own:rofl:

It’s really a big kick in the dick.

luckily they offer 1.9% over 5 years! How considerate. But we don’t have an extra 30k for right now so we will be doing that.

You can't contest that BS with a civil engineer or something with the town? And you're not kidding about monopolies. Westfield for the longest time you could only get Comcast for interent besides dish. Thankfully Westfield Gas and Electric installed fiber optic cable and offer fast internet and TV

I actually talked to the state reps office the other day and they offered to step in if we didn’t get anywhere. I’m thinking I might have to call them back.
But then does that process delay us weeks or months and whats outcome? Do we save 15k or only 5 and my MIL doesn’t have power for 3 months this winter...

it’s just a really tough spot and I feel like we have no choice because of the time constraints but to bend over and take it.

I know they don’t care, but in the future I will be doing as much solar as possible

Never hurts to call, some companies play hard ball til higher powers with the hammer are involved. Like dealerships and the BBB

I believe the AG's office is actively going after Eversource right now because of them leaving people in the dark for weeks, and then jacking their rates. Some people have had their bills double. You may want to contact the AG's office with this, they may be able to help.

With those prices, it might be a better idea to go fully off grid and go with a tesla solar set up. My buddy is purchasing a ground mounted setup that tracks with the sun. Even though he is quoted 58K, he has 0.9% financing for 20years, the panels and tracking mount is fully warrantied for 25 years, and he is getting back $17000 in rebates and incentives that he is putting right back into the loan to pay it off quicker. And he has a 2800 square foot home.

I think you go through Tesla, I could be wrong, but I saw that Tesla was hiring their own Solar installation people to work for them.

I saw they are hiring for solar installation techs out here. They must be expanding.

I can try to get the company name and a contact for you. He lives in Sturbridge but I don't know if area has anything to do with it regarding servicing area. You live out in the berkshires correct? I have heard great things about the company ReVision, but once again, I don't know if they service that area. I don't know if that is who he went through though. I know that he ordered the tesla solar battery setup separately and had the local company contracted to put in the pole ground tracking mount and panels. With his setup though, he is still going to be connected to the grid but most likely will be producing more than is coming into the house to earn credits.

Oh yea . Everything is good except the failure of blower door test . We are foaming ,caulking and stuffing insulation everywhere. The guy that does the test said the easiest way to pass is insulate basement walls raising the square footage of conditioned space and this allows you a higher number on the test . But ...... can’t afford to insulate basement walls .

First test $300 . Next one is $250  we might have to white out the result and fill it out ourselves if we fail again . I’ve had it . :annoyed: Need to pass for CO and need CO for bank
