Damn, $1250?? That's highway robbery. Well, considering the times we live in, it's pretty normal I guess. I paid $650 for mine about 7 or 8 years ago.

I would love to have a Grizzly Arms custom though...

Yeah absolutely. All it does is attach to the rail system. Then you attach the optics to the rail. It has a quick detach with an optional tie down location for (really quite a few) optics including the 3x. The new mount that attaches to the 3x can also be used for thermals/night optics as well. Its pretty versatile. Plus you can detach it quick if you're finding you dont want to have it hanging off to the side. Use it since 2016 can use loctite on it if you're concerned about that (i had no issues but checked it once a week while at work with it)

I was admiring the knives in the pics as much as the guns.

A few of the professionals I've known through work swear by their Chris Reeve knives.

I love my Chris Reeve knives, but they aren't built for cutting stuff all day long. It's a classy knife, and iconic, but they run their heat treat kind of soft on the s35vn. If I need to cut stuff up at work all day long, I'm going to grab a Spyderco, in a high-wear super steel of some flavor. Cruwear, Rex45 and K390 are new steels that pretty much stay razor sharp forever it seems.

Y'all may know, but Marlin was owned by Remington until Remington's recent break-apart bankruptcy sale.

Ruger bought Marlin. I'd expect new Marlins may be hard to come by for a while, until Ruger gets things rolling along in their manner.

When Remington first bought Marlin out, they put out some crappy rifles with the Marlin name on them. These defaults were known as gremlins and there were thousands of them released before they got manufacturing down. JM stamped Marlins are still considered the standard. Beware of buying newer Remington-built Marlin lever guns. Check and shoot if possible, before you buy.

I didn't know Ruger bought out Marlin...

I agree with every word of that!

Many that know that recent history are a lot more optimistic about consistent quality under Ruger. We'll see, I guess.

We'll see. JM stamped Marlins were built on machines that were over 100 years old, leaking oil, piles of oil dry around the machines! lol Those were when the best Marlins were put out. Remington tried to do everything on computerized equipment and it took em a few years to iron everything out. I'm thankful I got good one, shoots 1" groups at 50 yards and 3" groups at 100, all with ghost ring sights.

No you're good its very specific.

So the eotech 512 sat pretty low. The newer XPS-2 is shorter (side loaded battery) and sits slightly higher. The controls are on the SIDE of the optic, as opposed to the rear (can get to quicker and easier with an optic such as a 3x attached. So, your head will slightly turn and shoulders will hunch when looking into an optic. Some people have to do it more than others. You want your head a neutral (straight up and down) as much as you can for several reasons (less strain on your head, neck, quicker target acquisitions, and engagements.) So if you find yourself slightly canting your head to the right for right handed shooters, or to the left for left handed shooters. So for me, personally, especially while wearing a helmet and body armor (or other load bearing gear) i had to cant my head more to get a good sight picture and body position. The riser brings the optic up more into my view and natural position (significantly reducing fatigue and shaving a few tenths of a second off) my first round and follow up shots transitioning between targets (especially in depth.)

I would absolutely reccomend finding a rifle that has one or see a few videos and see if you would gain much from it. For me it was a massive game changer and used it for about a year before I could actually give good feedback on it. I got the "yeah doesnt make a big difference blah blah blah" until I was whooping peoples asses in day and night firing. Also made to work with p-masks (gas masks was the major reason for getting these) Day the closest people were getting was 2/10 of a second (large margin when first and 5th and separated by 7/10 of a second) night shooting was where it really shined for co workers. I didn't need to use my laser unless I was firing into shadows in urban areas.

This is the specific one I use at work https://tnvc.com/shop/wilcox-flip-mount-w-riser-system-for-eotech/

You can definitely find comparable riser mounts that are more reasonably priced

    we will see is right

all considering, the last 10-15 years of ruger QC has not been all too stellar either, and i am a bit of a 10/22 fan boy so it kills me saying that, but facts are facts...

You’re the man can’t thank you enough for describing it all.

I’ll post a picture once it’s all set up and also let you know the difference once I experience the mounted rail set up...whenever that may be

Like I said probably look at cheaper alternatives that do the exact same thing. Cant wait to see it! My co worker has a beautiful 300 blackout SBR with a suppressor on it that ive been eyeing. I keep offering him money for it and he isn't even entertaining the thought
