I am moving from my 285/70/17 KO2s to 275/70/17 Wildpeaks - I live in the PNW and the KO2s slip and slide a lot just on wet pavement and are definitely not the tires I want in the snow heading to mountains often in the winter

I hear this from time to time but it also seems like a lot of people run KO2s in rain/snow and swear by them. I've never been on KO2s only Wildpeaks but am considering going to KO2s next time. Are they that bad? I'm hoping to be making a move from the People's Republic of California to a free state sometime soon (where it snows) so I'm particularly interested. Born and raised in Colorado so I'm familiar with driving snowy roads.

They’re that bad for me, yes. The KO2’s were on the truck when I bought it so it’s all I’ve experienced. From what I’ve read and research I’ve done I am hoping the Wildpeaks are an improvement

I also live in the PNW and have ran KO2's for a few years. I have nearly 45,000 miles on mine and am just now noticing some slip in heavy down pours while pulling a trailer. They have performed extremely well in rain, Snow and mud in my opinion. I actually just purchased another set for my Tacoma today and am buying a set for my wife's 4runner when hers are ready to change.

I thought the guy at Costco was going to say no to putting them on but after he asked if I was going up in size, i said just a tad....265/70/17s to 275/50/17s and he just said OK. My mistake was thinking that the spare was going to be big enough for the 275/70/17. Nope...it is a 16" wheel. I decided to just spend the money and buy a 5th matching wheel from SCS. If I ever do a tailgate mount or anything it will be nice to have. Once it gets here I have to take it back to Costco to mount the spare tire. At full turn they rub slightly so I'm heading to the garage now to remove my mudflaps. Total for 5 tires mounted and balanced was $1239 and they took about 3 weeks to come in. Also, I have the Bilstien 5100s on the 4th perch and toyotech AAL in the back.

    thanks!

Removed the front mud-flaps and no rubbing. I’m not sure how it will be fully flexed but for normal driving it is fine now. Taking the mud-flaps off took 10 minutes.

Of course! the 285's look great but everything I've read said I'd have to do a CMC if I went with 285's. I didn't have to do that so I'm glad I went with the 275's.

I’m installing my TRD pro wheels and 275 70r 17’s on Monday thought about 285 but using TW I’ve decided my direction

Great job. To my eyes, and my personal sense of proportion, this 275/70/17 tire size really suits these trucks. It’s one of the benefits of having 17” rims. There isn’t a 16” equivalent to this size I know of, unless someone makes a 16” x 32”.

Anyone running a -10 offset wheel with bilstein 5160 and 6112 with falken wildpeaks? I just got SCS ray10s and have the lift on the way with a new leaf pack. Really want to run this tire size with the Falken’s. Appreciate the feedback!
