Wow at that price point I think a set of SSC2 ditch lights are in my not so distant future!

@Diode Dynamics What color is the LED backlight in the yellow pods? Does it only use the lens for its color?

For example, if someone got the yellow lights and then swapped the optics to clear (4000K), what color would the backlight be? Would it stay amber/yellow, or revert to white?

I can confirm in a day or two, but it HAS to be the same amber LED used in the white ones... I would be very surprised if it wasnt

All amber backlights use amber LEDs. Thanks!

I'm interested in how the combo and driving optics will compare as ditch lights. If anyone tries either of those out, your shared results would be appreciated.

Looking at the spec sheets, the SSC2 sport is right in line at half the power consumption, but the pros seem to be pulling extra juice compared to their SS3 counterparts. Are these using higher power emitters than the SS3 pros?

Good question. The same emitters are used. The SS3 Pro power is limited by heatsinking. The SSC2 is half the size, but not half the heatsinking capacity. So each chip in the SSC2 Pro can be driven a bit higher.

Can’t get over how rad the SS3 Pro’s are.

Just received a set of DD SS3 Sport fogs in selective yellow - thanks Colton (@memario1214). Looking at the 2nd Gen installation instructions - and reading a few posts here on TW - it seems that getting the "pivot" screws through the mount and into the captured nylock nut on the lights *after* slipping the mounting bracket in place can be challenging.

Has anyone tried using button head screws instead of the supplied cap pivot screws? I'm thinking that the smooth and lower profile of button heads might allow us to install the lights in the bracket before slipping the whole assembly in place. Thoughts?

Unfortunately that's a no go. If you ran the screws in first not only would you he gouging the paint with the screw heads as you pressed them into the fog opening, but you'd also no longer be attaching the bezel to anything. A part of the bezel snaps into the stock opening, and the screw runs through from the outside to squeeze everything together.

Also, in regard to what we were talking about before... heres those pivot head screws from another kit. DD will make you square if you're missing them.

Would this mean that if I put clear a lense on an SS2 amber, the light color would still be amber? Or just “less amber” because of the clear lense instead of the Amber lense? Thanks

It would be the "less amber" option. I assure you that it is very much still amber though.

Are you referring to the primary light or just the back light?

Wondering the same thing. Was hoping it’s similar to the fogs where you get a warmer color temp if you buy amber and swap to a clear lens
