I build my sliders so the inner face of the main tube (red line) is in line with the pinch weld. That keeps the legs about 7-7.25” long and puts the entire “body” of the slider outside the pinch weld and outboard of the lowest part of the body. I don’t like having slider legs longer than that due to the cantilever effect they’d have if put under load. Some guys build the legs shorter and make the overall body of the slider wider to accommodate the same distance from the frame but I like to adjust my slider widths at the outer tube and keep all the legs the same.

These are for a 1st gen single cab but the length of the legs and the width of the body of the slider is about the same between generations.

One piece of advice I’d add (which is specific to first gens) is to make the support leg come off the frame at a 5degree downward angle. First gen frames are tucked up higher under the body than second and third gens so the 5 degree slope keeps the slider away from the pinch weld for body flex clearance. You can then angle your slider upward at the leg to main tube connection, just make sure to account for the 5 degrees at the frame of the truck.

Why do you need a grinder to install a LT kit?

    He looks scared.

I had an ex in high school who got a husky after we split and it was so neurotic, when she was at work I would babysit it to keep it from barking the whole time. It looked so much like the view of that pic
