I've thought about doing them. I guess the black ones don't bother me enough to do them yet

Plug & Play all the way. Easy job - remove two bolts that hold the OEM towing hook, two more from the driver's side, slip on the Demon brackets and reinstall the bolts in the original holes. Shackles are standard 3/4". I bought black shackles and cans of OEM AG paint and Clear Coat and painted mine.

These are the shackles I got. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07XNQVKC1/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

    And the Demon Brackets: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07PGLK9CD/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

    After painting.

The ridges just catch dirt and bugs - it was as much for cleaning convenience as looks for me. :D

I had to move the truck (because we were on an active bridge) and he sneaked the one of me in it. I didn't even know he was taking it

The red hooks are from Amazon. There are so many of them that are all pretty much the same.
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07JVCHQCW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

You need the Demon brackets from amazon as well.
The Colonel turned me on to those. (He painted his shackles green)

I didn't like the way they hang down low and swing, so I found these rubber washers to wedge in to the recovery hooks so I can tighten them in a forward position:

We got a little dirty this past weekend. Couple water crossings. A little camping. Such a good, freezing cold weekend.

The shackles I bought came with the rubber washers to keep the shackles from flopping around. But, it's doesn't appear the have them in red.

But, they do have them in pink. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B085Q1M1VK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1 :confused:

Mine are secured in the down position and don't swing back and forth.

I see your shackles indeed did come with extra thick washers as well as thin ones to allow you to tighten the bolts and hold the shackles rigid. I had not come across those but it is interesting that my solution to the problem was the same. While we are on the subject, in my storage under the seats, I carry a pair of those "soft shackles" woven from nylon rope, along with my tow strap, so that if I ever need to pull somebody out a a ditch or a snowbank, I can quickly attach my tow strap to these shackles without removing them or using hooks that will scrape off their precious red paint!
