first off, how do I know if the timing belt and water pump have been replaced? Carfax does not have that info, and the dealer I bought it from does not know either. the truck has 177k mi on it so I would like to play it safe. do you all recommend Toyota replacement parts in this case? where do you all get good prices on motor parts and possibly some exterior body parts like front bumper rear bumper lens lights head lights...and I am also missing the inside latch that locks the rear sliding window in place so thats no bueno...gotta address that.

truck did have mild driver side front damage mentioned in the Carfax and I can tell but it doesn't look that bad so I'm sure it really was mild, but the bumper needs a little attention.

and does anybody have a ballpark estimate for parts/labor to replace the timing belt and WP? and what else would you address/inspect on this fairly used 5 owner truck lol I am the 6th..shes a hoe but runs great

    Stock
Ebay, there's a vendor that sells a kit with Aisin parts.

    Easy to find.

Some people have found labor for a waterpump/timing belt between 400-600, supplying your own parts.

Should do it yourself; tons of people here willing to offer advice not to mention Timmy's youtube video walk-through on everything and anything Tacoma/4Runner related.

u can never go wrong with OEM parts

its reasonable to expect very similar performance....reliabity & longevity

    many shop by co$t$

getting aftermarket.....mail oreder & discount parts

some are just as good......................some are NOT

many are adept ar finding the same manufactured parts far cheaper than the Toyota Dealer MarkUP

careful shopping beating bushes & finding old lost threads help with the budget

    its a USED truck

U r in for the good bad ugly

what was right & what as neglected

    have patience

You probably will find some better deals if you search eBay but make sure seller has excellent feedback on sales - not purchases which some scammers do to pump up positive interactions. Original guy selling these “aircabman” didn’t show up in my seller search - he’s who I bought mine from for $280ish.

you can see the procedure here:

Check out the first gen used parts for sale forum on here and you’ll find most of what you need - just take it one fix at a time. Window latches can be found on eBay for cheap - just buy one for like $7 until you get a good deal on an oem one.
