I don’t ever lock my doors. This way no damage. I don’t keep anything valuable inside. If they want the factory radio or something else they will break in anyways. But I hope there wasn’t much damaged to your truck.any alarm system will do these days. Just a matter of the sound scaring of the thief. Or if you want get engine kill also.

A lot of thieves strike in broad daylight in a parking lot or something. They'll go around every car just tugging on the door handles finding an unlocked car; if it's locked they just move to the next one.

locking your doors would go a long ways in adding "security" to your stuff.

There are a good amount of "check if unlocked" thieves if locked they just stroll on to the other car.

Alarms/anti theft systems don’t really prevent thefts, just slows thieves down.

The vast majority of break ins are crimes of opportunity. They look for the unlocked doors and don't spend much time in the vehicle. Generally they go for what's in plain sight or the common storage areas.

I would beg to differ. Most thieves don't want added attention to their activity. If there are 2 vehicles and one has an alarm, it will be much less likely to be broken into if all other things are equal.

If you go leaving valuables in plain sight, put stickers on the outside that clue thieves into your expensive toys, or just leave it unlocked/disarmed, then that is a whole different story.....

My 2018 has a stock Toyota alarm. It is very loud, I wish that was the steering wheel horn.
