Thanks to all that thanked us for serving. I'm at work today, don't get vacation day for today, and absolutely not a damn person has said anything about Veteran's Day. It saddens me. A simple gesture like "Thanks" means so much.

So thanks to all both current and past for serving for our freedoms.

The United States of America is the best damn country on earth, and I'm proud to have served her.

HAPPY VETERANS DAY!!!

I was stationed at Eglin AFB in 82. My first assignment there was a Ballistic Experimentation. I maintained an M114. It was cool because it was painted Air Force Blue!!

You guys are all welcome...I thank you for all the support and kind words. We couldn't do what we do without love and support from home.

Thanks again to the past and present vets and service men and women.

What is a Veteran ?
Some veterans bear visible signs of their service: a missing limb, a jagged scar, a
certain look in the eye.

Others may carry the evidence inside them: a pin holding a bone
together, a piece of shrapnel in the leg ‑ or perhaps another sort of inner steel: the
soul's alloy forged in the refinery of adversity.

Except in parades, however, the men and women who have kept America safe wear no
badge or emblem.

You can't tell a vet just by looking.

What is a vet?

He is the cop on the beat who spent six months in Saudi Arabia sweating two gallons a
day making sure the armored personnel carriers didn't run out of fuel.

He is the barroom loudmouth, dumber than five wooden planks, whose overgrown
frat‑boy behavior is out weighed a hundred times in the cosmic scales by four hours of
exquisite bravery near the 38th parallel.

She ‑ or he ‑ is the nurse who fought against futility and went to sleep sobbing every
night for two solid years in Da Nang.

He is the POW who went away one person and came back another ‑ or
didn't come back AT ALL.

He is the Quantico drill instructor who has never seen combat ‑ but has saved countless
lives by turning slouchy, no‑account rednecks and gang members into Marines, and
teaching them to watch each other's backs.

He is the parade ‑ riding Legionnaire who pins on his ribbons and
medals with a prosthetic hand.

He is the career quartermaster who watches the ribbons and medals pass him by.

He is the three anonymous heroes in The Tomb Of the Unknowns, whose presence at
the Arlington National Cemetery must forever preserve the memory of all the
anonymous heroes whose valor dies unrecognized with them on the battlefield or in the
ocean's sunless deep.

He is the old guy bagging groceries at the supermarket ‑ palsied now and aggravatingly
slow ‑ who helped liberate a Nazi death camp and who wishes all day long that his wife
were still alive to hold him when the nightmares come.

He is an ordinary and yet an extraordinary human being ‑ a person who offered some
of his life's most vital years in the service of his country, and who sacrificed his
ambitions so others would not have to sacrifice theirs.

He is a soldier and savior and sword against the darkness, and he is nothing more that
the finest, greatest testimony on behalf of the finest, greatest nation ever known.

So remember, each time you see someone who has served our country, just lean over
and say Thank You. That's all most people need, and in most cases it will mean more
than any medals they could have been awarded or were awarded. Two little words that
mean a lot, "THANK YOU".

Remember Veterans Day

"It is the soldier, not the reporter, Who has given us freedom of the press.

It is the soldier, not the poet, Who has given us freedom of speech.

It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, Who has given us the freedom to
demonstrate.

It is the soldier, Who salutes the flag, Who serves beneath the
flag, And whose coffin is draped by the flag, Who allows the protester to burn the flag."

I know that we all appreciate our veterans, mostly on Veterans day, but what Ive done for soo long now, that my kids are doing it now, on thier own, is that when I see someone in uniform, I simply walk up to them, shake thier hand and say "Thank You"
You should see the look of graditude in thier eyes, I can tell that just saying Thank You, means alot to them.
It doesnt cost me anything, takes about one minute out of my day, but means SOOO MUCH to them, just as my freedom, means SOOO MUCH to me.

Thank You one and all, and Thank You, to all the family members of our Veterans.

i appreciate the kind word ya'll but like i said...i really dont feel like i deserve it like so many others do...

My grandfather was at Pearl Harbor when it was attacked...my other grandfather was in WWII as well...my dad served in the army shortly after vietnam...my brother is in the Marines...one of my best friends from college has been to Iraq twice and his wife 3 times...theyre both on 85+% disability now...another friend from high school has been twice as well...and a fraternity brother from college is currently over there doing his 4th trip

What i've done and what I do pales in comparison to what so many others have done to keep this great country great

My most sincere and heartfelt Thank You to all who serve that we may live in freedom without fear.

To my grandfather (b.1920-d.1984) who served in the Pacific during WWII, and to my father who served in Vietnam, and to all who serve now or have ever served, Happy Veteran's Day. May you all be blessed and safe.

And if you, and others like you, were not here, would all those people have been able to do so much? No. Would we be able to sleep safely at night without you? No. Would this country be as great without you? No. You are one of those who keep this country great. You deserve our thanks, our respect, and our best wishes just as any other person who serves our country. Thank you!

Been to Pearl Harbor and stood before the great wall of all the names of those that died there. Life changing event!
The US soldiers are doing great things tiger.
But they have one life, you have one life. Every time any of you go to 'WORK' you are risking that 'ONE' life. Whether it is for civilian peace and safety, or for military peace and safety.

No one in any civil servant position can get off the hook with me.

Make sure you read how I titled this thread.

Thanking you and words of appreciation are not up for debate. Only acceptable response is 'OK' or 'Thank You'.
