3rd Gen the worst Gen?

Getting close to Friday here on TW thought we’d ask the tough questions. Is the 3rd Gen the worst Gen? Thoughts

Automatic transmission reaction times?

Driveline vibrations at low speeds?

Lack of torque?

Fuel pump recall with no replacement available?

No, Honda Ridgeline is the worse.

 

As this thread illustrates, it's easily the worst subforum of TW.

 

in addition to my 05 x-runner i have a 19 trd sport in cavalry blue. ive also owned 2 other 16 texas ed. tacos.

i had issues with my fuel pump...nearly got rear-ended twice because of it. it has around 24k miles. just got it back 2 days ago after a 3-4 week stay at the dealership until they figured it out.

dealer/toyota atleast put me in a rav4, then a 4x4 taco for free during that time. in contrast my 05 has 223k miles and only had to replace an alternator once and driveshaft bearings...both after 210k.

imho, aesthetically the 3rd gens look the best. i do enjoy the manual in my xr over the auto on the 19. never had any issues with either of the 2016's and i put around 50k plus on both.

 

Every week we see a thread like this.

Its been discussed a hundred times.

I have had a total of zero issues with mine. 33k miles. No tune, no special fixes. It drives like a truck. Gear hunts a little. I've had 19 cars over the years, no car is perfect.

 

Whenever the 4th gen comes out, THAT will be the worst one. Us 3rd gen guys have REAL trucks, those 4th gen drivers are a bunch of posers

Most definitely. You are 51% less likely to get a HJ in a Third Gen Taco.....
