Hey everyone, I have a 2017 4 cyl manual SR. I wanted the stick shift and 4x4, but didn't have the money for the TDR Offroad. I recently got to thinking, were I to buy a totaled/salvaged 3'rd gen with the V6 and manual could I do the swap? Would it even need to be a manual or would the transmission line right up to the engine? I know the TRD Offroads are 6 speed while the SR is 5 speed. Are there any length issues? I have the access cab and it looks like almost all the manuals pared to V6s are double cabs. If anyone has done this or has pointers I'd appreciate the advice.

I have a TRD sport 4x4 Access cab V6 With a manual 6 speed FYi but not many are made had to go 800 miles out of state to get it so not sure about even finding one at salvage yards to do that type of project anything can be done but the cost of conversion might not be worth it trade it in on a new one with a manual is easier

I did the 6 to V8 and auto to manual swaps back in the carburetor and breaker point days --- it was a lot of work back then before computer controls and emission compliance...

My opinion: Like what you have or buy what you want.

The 2.7 isn't a powerhouse but it is a very well designed reliable long life engine. 2017 was the last year for the 4 cylinder manual shift and no "nanny" features. I'm glad mine is a 2017.
