I found it really useful for backing a trailer since reverse is so tall, I feel like I was riding the clutch a ton, with 2 low, it puts you in low range but still able to turn the front wheels without binding. Also useful hunting, put it in low and don’t touch the gas to just creep down the road scouting

I would have to check the thread on it, not sure if it is a different unit for pre 2012 trucks

@crashnburn80 will be the true authority, but I'd assume the H9's will be brighter, as they're pumping more electrons. However, I'm known to be wrong about a great and many things.

I just have what came in the truck, so they would definitely be an improvement for me. I'm curious how they would compare to something like the +100 and if they are worth the extra cost and shipping time.

If you end up getting this and no one else has claimed it I am interested. I have found plenty of times I've had shift into 4LO just to backup my trailer or backup into my sloped driveway.

 

It is dumbfounding that cars have been around so long and manufacturers still struggle with gearing...

 

I suppose having 295 tires and bunch of extra weight probably doesn't help in my case but yeah, hopefully when I switch out to 4.56 it will help this issue as well.

 

Got mine yesterday as well. Was thinking of testing them at lunch.

 

That's fair but even in stock form reverse in the manuals and double OD in the auto boxes are questionable choices.

 

I can't find an H9 version of these for high beams. Do you have a recommended H9 bulb?

 

I still cannot get any little engineer gene I may have in my body to wrap around why toyota decided reverse needed to be a higher gear ratio than 1st. Single most hated thing about my truck

 

There are no true performance H9 bulbs. The stock standard Philips H9 is the highest performing H9 bulb, meaning there is no bulb upgrade for the high beam. To get improved high beam performance an aux high beam driving light will be the best solution. The KC Pro 6 driving lights and Diode Dynamics light bars are both excellent options for a real high beam driving pattern.
