An electric fan does not eliminate the “fan belt” it’s still there turning the water pump, and on most vehicles the alternator, PS pump and A/C compressor. The decrease in load due to removing the fan probably does not significantly decrease the probability of having a serpentine belt fail. An electric fan only increases the odds of a failure(although I do THINK that probability is still low). Serpentine belts aren’t that expensive. Replace them every 2-3 years, and keep a spare!!!

I think you missed what I meant, but that's my bad because I wasn't very clear. What I meant was a serpentine belt failure will stop not only the fan, but everything attached and cause, no doubt, other damage from flying off. Meanwhile and electric fan is not attached by a belt so if the fan failed, it would be independent of the belt.

They mention it in A Faster Horse, documentary on previous gen Mustang development. They were upset some screws were $3/ea instead of $1.

FWIW My only experience with flex fans ....... 1978 Chev Blazer, 350CID, Cam, headers, replaced the belt driven clutch fan with a Flex-a-lite, in the elusive search for a couple horse power. What I got was "fan noise!" As RPM's increased, the fan created a mild "roar" (difficult to describe fan sounds), but, it was noisy enough that I traded the HP increase (LOL) for a new clutch fan. That was also in the early 80's, so maybe the technology has changed and now they are silent at speed. I've had vehicles with factory electric fans for decades, NEVER had a failure and they are probably more reliable today than ever before.

Found an adapter at LCE. I don’t know why I couldn’t find it on my own, but after e-mailing them, they sent me a link and there it was.

It’ll be a while. Waiting for the head to get back from the shop, and then putting it back together an hour here and an hour there.

Good to hear it! I only wish we were heading into summer instead of facing cooler weather. Gonna be interesting to see how it performs in serious heat, especially in stop & go traffic. But I'm sure it'll be able to cool that little 2.7L just fine.

I have no concerns about cooling. I ran a 14” five blade on a 22-RE without issue. It takes a 17” to properly fit the fan shroud on the 2TR-FE. It’s a single cab 4-cyl that won’t be towing or rock crawling. It doesn’t get much easier to cool.

My current concern is about where my head is. It was supposed to be finished Tuesday afternoon. The machine shop just said that they can’t find it.
