Stripers are also pretty high in mercury...

I've never actually caught any legal sized ones to cook anyways though.

I’ve never had striper so can’t confirm or deny what’s in it. Lol. I’ve heard they do carry lots of mercury though. I’m a black bass eating guy when it comes to bass.

stripers are tasty, but i haven't eaten one in many years. i've never caught one; usually it was one of my uncles.

    back to bone stock.

my friend is a road engineer for the area around Berryessa. he said there is a lot of work to do before they can open it all back up. i didnt ask for specifics, but i would be CRUSHED if we dont get in there for next spring.

but on the bright side, i bet we can put a hook on a nail-clipper and toss it out and catch fish. they will be DUMB when we get back there!! "whats that thing in that floating thing, throwing out food? - lets eat that food!"

i am watching the tides. this saturday sucks with low tide being around 8:00 am. but it is an incoming tide with the peak at around3:30. i suppose we could sleep in. but weather officially changes this saturday, i think.

i am considering hitting up Lazy M Marina this saturday. or launching out of Soda Bay in Clearlake. this all hinges on if FEDex can pull their collective heads out of their collective butts and get me my new fishing rods.

Idk...... I think it looks pretty good this weekend depending on what folks are fishing for and where! Tide comes in mid-morning and going through the afternoon.

I know, right?? The bite is probably going to get HOT out there these next couple of weeks. Last year this time I was having 50+ fish days out there on the kayak. Bastards are munching on everything!

Friend of mine gave me few of his old Shimano Curado DHSV's. Anyone got an idea what they are worth? I'm thinking of selling them, maybe $100 bucks or so?

I would suggest giving them back to your “friend” to sell for himself. I have no doubt that you will have some snarky response but find it CS to resell a gift.

He's a good friend that give us lots of his old gear. He's the kind of guy who makes enough that it's not worth his time to resell old gear. He was just going to throw these away. So I tell him to give the stuff to me and I'll take the time to sell it. We usually send him a cut on a Tackle Warehouse gift card or something like that, even though he doesn't need the money, it's the principle to say thanks.

Not much. I have that one too. I spooled it up and it’s my spare if I birdnest beyond hope. Nobody wants the old reels. The low profile rigs gave taken over.

Yeah I’d say a good starting point would be $50-$60 or so. Like @aficianado said, the newer models that Shimano has dropped are huge upgrades and at $100, that’s getting somewhat close to the price point of a new entry-level Shimano Curado.

I went to Clearlake today to learn ti kayak in stiff wind. No fish. It was so tough I launched in soda bay. It felt like the ocean. Some jet ski guy kept circling me. Weird.

That is weird. Wonder what he was doing. Sucks you didn’t get hooked up. Delta is looking good tide-wise tomorrow.

Clear lake with any wind is like the Atlantic. Sometimes it’s ROUGH.
