Need Help With Bilstein 6112 Strut & Spring Assembly

I have a 2019 Toyota Tacoma SR5 Access Cab and need help on which Circlip location option I should pick on Shocksurplus.com's website. The link is below to the exact part I'd like to purchase

I have a 2.5" ReadyLift Front/Leveling Kit and a RoughCountry 2" set of Rear Blocks w/U-Bolts.

I'm not sure if I can even install the Bilstein 6112s on the front & 5160s in the rear since I have a total lift of around 2 inches.

My question: With all of this being said should I go with the #6/#5 option or the #5/#4 option? Please help. I've been trying to figure this out for 2 straight months.

 

This is my understanding

If you want to keep your existing components, you will need to run the factory settings on the 6112 (#2,1)

The reason is you can't go over 2.75 total lift without replacing UCA, and potentially shafts etc.

So, removing your existing lift, and going with (#6,5) will give you about 2.5" lift, and the 5160s will give you about 1.5". Again, that is removing your existing lift.

Thank god someone replied and it of course was someone named "The_Devil". Amazing LMFAO... Thank you in all respects though as this has taken me forever to figure out. I understand now completely. If I order the Setup you're saying to remove the rear blocks too? Literally the front and back stuff entirely?

 

Are you replacing your spacer lift or attempting to run it WITH the new suspension?

 

@WZ00R2 Yes. I planned on running it with everything I already have installed on the Yota. If I can't do this I understand. I just want someone to help me find a 100% answer before I buy anything.

 

5160s do not give you any lift what so ever.

 

@GreyBaldTaco Thank you so much. With that being said, I probably now need to focus on if I should remove the ReadyLift Front Kit and select a specific circlip location for the 6112s or keep the leveling kit and select a specific circlip location.

 

I personally went 3/2 clip setting on my 6112's with 5160's in the rear. The ride is fantastic. I'm 90% positive 5160s are compatible with up to a 1 inch lift in the rear.

 

@GreyBaldTaco Do you have a picture of your taco from the side? How much lift did the 3/2 option give you in the front and is that lifted based on factory level prior to installing the 6112s?

 

Bilstein's published 6112 lift heights/clip settings were pretty spot on for my truck. I'm not sure how much total lift you're attempting to have but this gives you a good idea as to clip setting vs height obtained.

 

It looks slightly higher than stock on 265/75r16, but sits pretty level if that makes sense.

 

@WZ00R2 @GreyBaldTaco @The_Devil Thanks for all the help with this. I think I'm pretty set on only removing my front 2.25" leveling kit from ReadyLift then setting the circlips for #5/#4 for the 6112s. I'm sure the 5160s and 2" Rear Blocks won't make the truck view from the side look like it's dipping forward too much. Even if it does dip a little in the front I could always put a couple tires in the back of the bed to help with the look and level of the Taco. Again, thanks for all the help!

 

On the Shock Surplus link...

The middle pic where the guy is assembling the strut with an impact gun. That is the WRONG way to do that. He/you will damage the piston inside the shock if the shaft spins and/or you can spin the shaft loose from the piston like happened to Tacomaholic's strut.

When you order your struts make sure THAT guy has the day off or have someone you know and trust do it while you watch.

PS Shock Surplus shows the guy using an impact gun in one of their videos.... wouldn't let those guys top off my washer fluid. But after 28 years as a Euro Car tech, what do I know.

 

You need to verify 5160's work with a 2 inch lift.

Looks like they are for a 0-1.5 inch lift.

Personally I'd remove all the shitty blocks.

 

I am thinking the clip chart isn’t 100% for every truck. I did 6112’s w/ the 650lb Bilstein Coils on 4. Back I added the 5160’s with an Icon 1.5 AAL and still had to add an additional 1” block to level out. Now I most likely will just get some new rear springs RXT or Deaver. I don’t like the block.

 

I'm running 6/5 6112 with the stock coil 600lb its stiff asf HAHAHA.

 

In your case it wouldn't be. That chart is for the standard coils.

 

I have 6112s at 6/5 and got right a 2". I have 5160 in the back with Dakars, giving me a little over 2", and I have the Dakar heavy AAL to put in. I have had zero issues with the rear bottoming out. There is a lot of shock left at ride height.

 

You mean the 600# coils that came with it? I don't think they are stiff at all, much less harsh than the OEMs. I do have weight up front. The biggest difference for me was pulling the sway bar. They are strong enough to still limit body roll and bumps are much nicer with it off. I tow with it still and have no issues.

 

Stock front springs wouldn't fit the 6112
