Lets get them moved up a couple notches for ya Josh

Pancakes and butter with syrup are great but like you said, sweets are ok for breakfast but not always what you want. Most times you want something heartier. The easiest way is to just throw some sausage, bacon, or other breakfast meat, and some runny eggs on the plate. That's usually all it takes but what if you don't want to have to cook all that.......what if all your want are fluffy pancakes?

Well, I find myself in the same boat a lot of times. So here's how I solve the dilemma. First we gotta add some heat. Not a lot but enough that you go "hmmm, is that heat?". It's going to change the color of the pancakes but add a teaspoon (or to taste) of the liquid from a can of chipotles. A teaspoon is a lot of flavor and color though so go slow. Or you can use chipotle powder but add it to the batter and let it sit a while, or overnight. That's not enough to make it hearty though. We also gotta change that flavor profile to reduce the acid from the chipotle. I add a can of creamed corn. Basically, whatever your normal amount of milk is, reduce it. You add the milk a little bit at a time after the corn until the batter looks normal. Please don't ask exactly how much. I never measure anything. And as far as the milk goes, you gotta use buttermilk. When you fry these pancakes you.....huh, yeah, fry, we're making savory remember. You gotta fry these in a small amount of bacon grease so that they get that flavor too. You'll need to add more grease each time so make sure you have enough.

The condiment is just as important if not more important as the flapjacks so we make this the day before. Start with butter, salted of course. Depending on how many people are eating, use about a stick or two. Put them in a sauce pan on medium low heat. As they melt, add a pinch of salt, a cap full of vanilla, and a dash or two of cinnamon and finally a half ounce to an ounce of your favorite whisky or bourbon. Then add a half cup of King syrup, and a half a cup of molasses. Make sure it is the dark kind. Bring it all to a slow boil and then remove it from the heat, and cool it down stirring occasionally, then put it in the fridge overnight. Let it come to room temp before serving it with your flapjacks.

Kids won't typically like these but adults will love them. You can make everything ahead of time for your camping trips and are best cooked in a cast iron skillet over an open wood fire.

Or just begin with a more simple recipe of buttermilk and creamed corn, butter and light molasses. You can even get a "mild" flavored version. Dark is the middle of the road. Full flavor, and not as sweet as light but not as bitter as blackstrap. I do not recommend that unless you're very bold.

It was a double feature. My urologists did it, then sent me to a specialist and she did it too. The operations (yea, two of them) do not sound fun at all. :sawzall::lalala:

This is exactly what they had to do on my second rotator cuff surgery. Let me tell ya. I would rather have my balls set on fire. After a 6.5 hour surgery, and going home, I was back at the emergency room later the same night in so much pain. It took all night into the next morning of them trying different med cocktails. Ultimately 10mg valiums and percocets or one of the oxy types meds was the only thing that provided very minor relief. Even my umbilical hernia surgery was not as bad. Like alcohol, I have a very high tolerance to pain medications. Not sure if it's my weight, or just my dna being different than normal people but I have a seriously high tolerance. I hyperextended my left knee once. I tore the ACL. I saw the video of the operation and was like hell no! They are not drilling holes in my leg with a craftsman. It still flakes out once in a while but to get over those times I take like 1k mg of advil.

I'm not trying to scare you, just prepare you.Good luck with it. They should hook you up with the cooler circulation therapy. It's a small 6 pack cooler you put ice water in and wear a thing that it circulates through. There's also a deluxe sling you can buy that have wedge shaped padded attachments, and belly straps. It's the freaking best. When you have shoulder surgery the only comfortable position for your upper arm to be in is a certain angle. I still sleep with a pillow under my arm sometimes to elevate it.

Just something I made up. I use bisquick and follow that recipe and then modify it. If it says a cup of milk and an egg, you know what the batter is suppose to look like. You can just add a can of creamed corn at that point but it will be too soupy. Add another egg and some more bisquick to thicken it up. It will be perfect.

I have a knack for guessing when it comes to cooking or mixing drinks. If I try to write down the amounts as I go I lose the feeling and it typically doesn't turn out as good. I have to feel it.

If it's something I've never made (I collect cook books) I follow the recipe and if it turns out, great, then I modify, if it is meh, I move on.
