Best oil filter wrench?

    What oil filter housing wrench are y’all using for the V6? Amazon links would be nice to if you have them!

    I use the Motivx which has always worked well. I also changed the plastic oil housing to the aluminum one which has a positive feel when it’s securely in place. The stealership over torqued the plastic housing the one time they did the oil change. I had a hell of a time taking the plastic housing off.

    I would also look at the fumoto valve which makes the oil change less messy and you can let some oil out if you overfilled.

    MotivX - it grips the flats and the tabs. They have a nice drain tool for the filter as well.

    Motivx works just fine. @BMH many modern automobiles use cartridge type filters. It's a non issue.

    Another vote for MotivX. I'd also suggest having a 27mm socket handy for proper use and to retain the warranty.

    SOS bolt-on sliders In-cab sleeping platform J-Dub IFS Skid
    Get a decent one. I got a "decent" one at AutoReilyZone and used the 3/8" drive and it stripped immediately. Made it a perfect circle. The 27mm is fine to use anytime, it's just easier to use the drive. I don't use a torque wrench, never have, and never have had issues with oil exploding out of my vehicle(s).

    My last four vehicles have had cannister filters, dating back to my 2007 F-350.

    It's all the same to me, and doesn't add or detract two nanoseconds to any given oil change.

    If you're a noob then use a torque wrench.

    If you feel you are a pro then you should have a feel for the proper tightness which iirc is 18ft lbs. But then I know pros who still use a torque wrench.

    18 for the housing, 9.5 for the filter drain plug, and 30 for the oil pan drain plug.

    Why are you so surprised?, high end European vehicles always had them. One advantage to cartridge over spin on canister type is that I get to inspect it...you on the other hand have to get your can opener or grinder or hacksaw...and probably won't do it...have a great Friday...is Friday the official negative day?
