235/85r16

Thinking of getting some tires at this size after my stockers wear out completely (soon).

Anybody have pictures of 235/85r16 tires on their stock tacoma?? Preferably a second gen. Would love to see how they look! Any experience, or suggestions welcome! Thanks fellas/ladies

Why are you wanting to go skinnier than stock? Better for snow?

 

yeah for snow purposes. i live in northeast ohio and its pretty much winter for about 6 months of the year here. Also i feel like the gas mileage would be better for whatever reason... just lookin for some more info/pictures. i know theres a guy on here with 255/85r16 but hes lifted and its a different size ha

 

Here are some pics of my 2nd gen with 235/85r16 BFG Commercial Traction. I really liked this size on the stock truck they looked good and performed great and the impact on power and mileage was barely noticeable. These are all the photos I have in my gallery of 235's I probably have more but would have to look on my computer for them.

 

I understand how there could be a potential reduction in percieved power, i.e., acceleration, but mileage? I would think that if anything, the mpg especially at cruising speed would go up, since a taller tire effectively lowers the final drive ratio. Obviously the odometer would be off, but using GPS (or some simple math) to figure the actual mileage would correct the mpg calculation. My anectodal experience swapping in taller tires on my Jeep actually improved mpg for commuting use. Of course, YMMV. Literally.
