    In 2018 the top 2 big 12 went 1-1 against the top 2 sec.


    I thought bowl games didn’t matter because the players didn’t want to be there, or is that just when you lose.

    It's true for Auburn under Gus. 2-5 in bowls. The only ones we wanted to be in were against Memphis and Purdue lol.

    I was making a joke of the "we didn't want to be here" excuse but yes, very much the case in the Sugar bowl against Oklahoma. Outcoached against Minnesota back in January. I could dig in to more of them but those two stand out especially. Oh and Auburn's gift to college football, the UCF national champions.

    To be fair, I've never bought in to the "They didnt really want to play in that bowl" bullshit.


    I can see how teams could perform differently with a mass exodus of draft eligible players not risking injury, but the other team could be affected the same way, so they better go out there and win the bowl game anyway.

    If there is a mass exodus, I'd think the 2nd stringers would be hyped and stoked to be starting in a bowl game, so they should play better...especially on the defensive side of the ball.

    By the end of the season, offensively, the second and third stringers should have had enough reps in practice and mop up situations that the timing required for offenses to run efficiently shouldn't be as big of an issue (at that point in the season). Its really kind of the first game of the next season.
