Heat stripped my 3205 hitch a few minutes ago. If you don't feel safe then don't do this. I'm an adult and take responsibility for what I do. If you aren't then just don't do it or take all the precautions you need to keep you from killing yourself, I'm not responsible for you, yadda, yadda.

This took much longer to heat than the sheetmetal did due to the thickness of the hitch. I could wave the heat over the sheetmetal and the paint and PC would blister right up. After I stopped the vid I donned a Left welding glove to finish up. The subsequent heatings took less time because the thick hitch had already soaked up heat.

Neat method, need to try that sometime.

The irony of this to me is that it seems like a falling leaf will scratch the paint on my truck -- you passed the torch over that paint for 30 seconds and the paint looked completely undamaged...

Right about at the max lift with this one...
The green butt end of a large-ish oak tree. She lifted it, but not happily. Rear end was light and the steering...wasn't.

    20201003_121019.jpg

Got the rest of it stacked up no problem with a little creativity, though.

Also cleaned up the mess from 'maintenance day' on the camp road. 4 trailerloads of brush/slash takes up a lot less room when you roll it up into a pile with the tractor :D

Edit- Also cleaned out a horse farm of a year's supply of manure today, but didn't get any pictures because it was dark at both the 'start' and 'finish' times. 6 full trailer loads (at 5-6 tons per load), though. I'll try to remember to snap a photo of the pile tomorrow before work.

Got a buddy who works on welders. He’s a Kohler dealer. Should have went and seen him instead of putting a used starter on my mower

A big load. I dropped 3, shuttled the tractor back home and stacked them into one pile, then shuttled the tractor back to the farm and brought 3 more loads back. By the time I got the tractor back home again it was after dark, which isn't a huge deal because I've got plenty of work lights on it. But I was done for the day, so I'll just stack the other 3 after work tonight. Fortunately I already had a large depression at the back side of my 'work' lot that I can store it in while it breaks down, but a lot of it has already cooked down and is nearly ready to use as it is.

Went over and cut the deer food plot today with the 140 and reseeded part of it.

Here's a trick I learned from my dad years ago. Take an old conveyor and pull a couple rollers out of it and wire brush, sand, and paint rims. It allows you to roll it for a good even coat and the only thing messed up is the edge but 99% of the time the tire covers that anyway.

I had to buy 2 new rear rims for one of our 140's. Both of our 140's had one good wheel and one bad one. I saved this good one and only wanted to paint the inside to stop the rust before I mount the tire on it and leave the original finish on the outside to match the other one on the tractor.

    Grandpa had 3.

    1. Use WD-40
    2.Put a rubber on it.
    3. Don't buy no flat bottles. (Referring to pints of liquor being the most expensive) :D

I asked a retiring machinist for words of wisdom on his last day:

    1) Never pass up an opportunity to use the restroom
    2) Never waste "a woody"
    3) Never trust a fart

He always said he knew all about women and marriage -- he had done it 5 times...

My co-worker came over tonight. We worked on a sod cutter. I'm gonna help him take up 50ft of sod, spread sb2, and lay down astro turf for a batting cage. Built the sides and bottom a couple weeks ago and tried it on my rear sleeve hitch. It started to cut sod but dug too deep and caused me to spin out.

Fitted it for depth rollers tonight. Cut some old lawnmower blades up and welded them to the front sides to lead in and slice the sides of the sod.

Welded some plates on the sides and mounted 2 deck rollers 2" up from the bottom blade. I have 2 pieces of angle cut and drilled to weld to the sides which will bolt to the loader bucket. I'll be able to angle it any way I want and put a bunch of downpressure on it w/o unloading the rear tires.

I taught him how to weld and let him run some 7018 and flux core wire with the 2 welders. He did pretty good. It's not perfect but it'll hold

Spread 15 yards of 7/8's this afternoon. Had to clean up the mess left behind when the electrical was trenched out to my garage. Lots of clay around my property, so they back filled the trench with sand. Cleaning up piles of clay took me 3 days, and about half a day spreading stone to make my driveway nice again.
